"I do want somebody who's independent. I want a Senator who's going to put the interests of working folks all across Massachusetts first. Ahead of party. Ahead of special interests. And here's what I know, is that Martha has done so. She's got a track record of doing so. I know there are things on which she and I disagree - I respect her for that. She doesn't just call herself independent, she has the character to be independent. So I hear her opponent is calling himself independent and you gotta look under the hood.

"When the vote comes on financial regulatory reform and the choice is between standing with Wall St or standing up for common sense reforms that will protect consumers and protect our economy from future crises, who's going to be in your side? Now we learned the answer to that one this week. Now keep in mind, Democrats in Congress voted for tax cuts for middle class families and businesses. Now what we're proposing is that tax payers get their money back from the rescue we had to engage in in the beginning of this year because of the bad regulatory practices of the previous administration.
And so we asked Martha's opponent what's he gonna do? And he decided to park his truck on Wall Street."

This is the point of this election: who's side are you on? Scott Brown isn't on the people's side, and he's trying to give the people's seat to the special interests and corporations who bankrupted the country, the same ones who held an economic gun up to our heads and took billions of dollars in bailout money, because it was either that or Great Depression II.
And they have the money to buy a pick-up truck, an aging centerfold and a slick ad campaign to keep the status quo, to keep their bonuses and their speculative profits and make us foot the bill for their bad bets.
Yes, it's breathtakingly cynical. And yes, that's who these folks are: breathtaking cynics who put short term self interest above everyone and everything else.
On Tuesday, we have the opportunity to stop them dead in their tracks - at least for this particular battle of the war to change the way they do business.
Let's not let that opportunity pass us by.

UPDATE - from independocrat:
The Wall Street front group Club for Growth is strongly "boosting" Brown and is expected to run ads in support for him.
According to recent disclosures, the Club for Growth is funded by a $1.4 million dollar donation from investor Stephen Jacksons of Stephens Groups Inc, a $1.4 million dollar donation from broker Richard Gilder, and $210,000-$630,000 donations from at least 10 other investors and financial industry professionals.

UPDATE the Second: There's an urban legend out in the blogosphere that - along with spider eggs in bubblegum and alligators living in New York's sewer systems - Brown's rally had bigger turnout than Coakley's.
Hopefully this dispells this rumor:
The president's speech, which organizers said was attended by 1,500 people in the gym and viewed by 2,500 in a spillover room, was briefly interrupted by a shout of "Abortion! Abortion! Innocent Blood!"

Brown held a competing rally at about the same time at Mechanics Hall in Worcester that organizers said was attended by 2,200 people, with another 1,000 in two additional rooms.

That's 4,000 people at-capacity at Coakley's rally today, versus 3,200 people at Brown's rally. There are photos and reports of many more than that being turned away from Coakley's rally after the capacity limit was reached.
Hopefully this puts that hard to explain rumor to rest.
