For anyone who missed the biggest story of this campaign so far, the now notorious Republican billionaire Meg Whitman brazenly and underhandedly dumped her housekeeper once she decided she was running for Governor. Whitman's thought was the image of her candidacy had to be protected, at all costs. Well, I suppose she thought there would be no cost to her. She assumed this story would not surface; the media would not report it. Do you by any chance think Whitman adhered to the relevant state and federal laws?
Make no mistake about it, should the Queen-in-demanding (I don't see her she as someone who is interested in waiting, for anything) Mrs. Whitman becomes Governor, many, many more will be dumped, and dumped upon, one way or another. Is there any doubt?
Employed in California? You can be dumped. Relying on services provided or funded by state or local governments in California? Those services, and those programs, can be dumped. Looking for work or working towards an improvement in the state's economy? Don't count on it. Trying to get an education in the state of California? Oh boy...
Soon after her election should the Queen become the Gov, the state will be overloaded with dumped workers, confused citizens, petrified civil servants, disorganized government, scattered students, and discouraged businesses and consumers (on the other hand, billionaires will probably do just fine).
Bad as the times are, and dismal as this economy is, today (the Republican obstructionists are in power, remember?), Whitman will make it worse. She has the capability to lead California into a new Dark Age. Don't think so?
Do you by any chance think Whitman will adhere to state and federal law? Of course not. She'll run the state just like she runs her household. Brazenly. Underhandedly.
Fortunately, there is a sensible alternative: Vote for Jerry Brown for Governor this November. Support Brown for Governor. All the way. It's the only choice a sane person can make.
And send Meg Whitman back to her Crazy Castle.
