One of Keith's twi...er...uh...tweets from last night indicated that the funds set up for the Cranick family had received $500 in about 5 or 10 minutes. We Countdown viewers are a generous folk - elitist & hating America not withstanding! ;D Here's the information to do what you can if you're financially able; truly, every little bit helps!
Let's go on with "this day in history" with just a tweak in SOP. On this date in 1871, the Great Chicago Fire erupted. The blaze destroyed four square miles of the city, killing about 250 people and leaving some 90,000 homeless. I'd say the city's made a comeback. Wouldn't you? :D
On this date in 2004, Martha Stewart reported to prison to begin serving a sentence for lying about a stock sale. Yea, THAT really killed her career - NOT!
Sigourney "Alien A$$ - Kickin'" Weaver is 61 today. Yea, I know she's done lots of other work, but she kicked alien a$$ and took names!
Matt Damon is 40 today; get off my lawn!
Finally, in a slight detour in what happened today, John Lennon would've been 70 tomorrow. Expect LOTS of music in comments {insert bittersweet sigh here}.
Let's Countdown...and "Imagine."
#5 "Crooked Numbers" AKA "Working AGAINST Jobs" AKA "GOP Jobs?" AKA "Dems Fight for Jobs (Theirs, Too)" - "Small Price to Pay" Goldilocks was in rare form today – even for him! First, his cabal poo – poos every single policy or law created to help increase the number of jobs, the latest unemployment figures come out, and "Small Price to Pay" Goldilocks BLAMES President Obama for the lack of job growth. Millions of people are still without work, but, thankfully, one of my sisters IS NOT part of that equation; after being unemployed for almost 6 months, she begins a risk assessment job on Oct. 18! :D
Golly, is it just me, or does "Small Price to Pay" Goldilocks look less orange? A whole mess of government jobs did go away due to the census ending & state and local government layoffs, but private sector hiring actually went up just a bit. Remind me again of how many infrastructure or other projects popped up in "Small Price to Pay" Goldilocks’ district thanks to the stimulus. Governor Christi, now, just might not kill the biggest infrastructure project in this country in his fair "Garden State." Here’s Ezra Klein again with his stubble. ;D The stim bill was passed, and job loss reversed, but since the stim bill WASN’T BIG ENOUGH, the job losses are increasing. But, then again, if anyone knows anything about things not being big enough, that would be "Small Price to Pay" Goldilocks. ;D
If the government or someone doesn’t step up, things job – wise will go further in the terlet than they already are because people’s job skills will decrease the longer they’re out of work. Infrastructure jobs are the way to go, baby! Here’s Senator Bernie Sanders with his righteous outrage – yea! Keith, I’ll answer that Boss Limbaugh paraphrase for you; the GOBP wants America to FAIL because if we fail, they succeed – or at least say, "I told you so." Senator Sanders thinks Dems should’ve been more aggressive, and he wasn’t shy about saying so! If we’ve got any F.O.O. from Vermont, y’all are damn fortunate.
#4 "Talking Shutdown" AKA "Decision 2010" - AK Senator – Wannabe & the minimum wage is unconstitutional Joe Miller and Mitchie McConnell, who may or may not be Senate Majority Leader should the GOBP take over in November (could be Senator Waterloo DeMint!) are having coffee talk about a government shutdown(?). Mitchie, apparently, recalls their little coffee talk differently. Rep. Eric Cantor has firmly established himself in the no – shutdown column. A judge in MI declared the mandate portion of the HCR law IS constitutional around the same time the aforementioned Mr. Miller admitted that at one time, his family was on some government assistance. 2 leading GOBPers in NV endorsed Harry Reid; Sharron Angle is too bat$hit even for them! Gawd, I remember Senator "Doc" Coburn did that Viagra shtick on the Senate floor. I was at work, and I nearly fell out of my chair! Christine (no relation to Lawrence) O’Donnell thinks an 8 – day course about the Constitution makes her a Constitutional scholar.
Poor David Weigel got to hang out with tea baggers today; well, I hope not SOME of him was hanging out – HA! ;D Tea baggers are apparently creaming their jeans at the prospect of a government shutdown. Huh, I wonder if any of them are police officers or fire fighters or get Social Security checks or anything like that because, if there’s a government shut – down, THEY WON’T GET THEIR MONEY! They also need a civics course refresher on how a bill doesn’t become a law. HEY! Did y’all hear that?! Keith’s promising a million dollars in my Christmas stocking! Well, thank goodness; I still haven’t gotten that pony I was promised! ;D Now, about that autographed copy of your upcoming book...
** HA! A doggie at a wedding took a whizz on the bride – LOVE IT! Those crazy Brits are at it again; a little girl got Johnny Depp to show up in her class! How kewl would THAT be?! Governor Charlie Crist got to throw out the first pitch yesterday & veered far to the right. Uh – oh! **
#3 "Holding Court" AKA "Law of the Landed" AKA "Businessmen Gone Wild" - The Anti – American CoC is beginning to feel some heat over the possibility that they’re enabling big foreign coin to influence American elections. These peeps are constantly fighting against our ability to sue corporations for the ills they do, this time, by...wait for it...FILING A LAWSUIT against the government!
The EPA’s been sued a bunch already this year. American stock holders also now have less say in the companies in which they are partial owners thanks to the Anti – American CoC. They were also kind enough to put the HOME PHONE NUMBER of a Dem Congressional candidate in an attack ad. CLASSY! Robert Weissman gets to talk about the Anti – American CoC – heck of a way to spend part of a Friday evening. There was a disaster in the Gulf of Mexico? Huh...ya’ know, I think I DO REMEMBER reading about that in the papers at one time. Mr. Weissman’s not crazy about Citizens United, either. I get the distinct impression that not a whole lot of people are thrilled with Citizens United! ;D
WPITW – Boss Limbaugh doesn’t think equality exists & that some people are born to be slaves. The "gentleman" who wants to outlaw mosques has come down on the side of the fire with the Cranick family. The head GOBPer in Wisconsin had a few too many Freudian slips when it comes to executing "Obama." But, it sure as $hit WASN’T a gaffe!
Fridays with Thurber We get part deux of "The Dog Who Bit People."
