I've been accused of attacking Dean relentlessly, no matter what. And I still think it would be a mistake to nominate him. But on this issue that Al Sharpton attacked him about, he is absolutely right: class is more of a barrier than race in today's society.
An affluent black person who grows up going to elite private schools, Jack and Jill, etc., has a better chance of success than a poor rural white person who grows up in a trailer court.
