52 degrees, but very humid,
here in Wichita.
The full moon is on the Western horizon.
Orion
and Taurus
are nearly straight overhead,
not low
in the sky,
as they will be,
at midnight,
in late December.
I took my little dog
for a nice, long walk
about two hours ago.
I have two chores to do
this morning.
I am voting by mail,
and sending a gift card
to an online friend.
Well, maybe three chores,
if I go to see my Bev
next door.
I live in Wichita,
Kansas.
I have little hope
that my vote will count,
except for the numbers
that analysts can point to,
telling the world
that yes,
even in Wichita,
thousands and thousands
vote for Democrats.
Just not enough.
Lisa Johnston
gets my vote for U.S. Senate.
But Jerry Moran
will be my next Senator,
whether I like it or not.
For Congress,
Raj Goyle is my man.
But Mike Pompeo, West Point graduate, Harvard Law School graduate, Republican, might win, and mostly just because he is a Republican, in Kansas, I suppose.
We have had a Democrat as governor for some years now, and that has given me hope.
However.
Senator Sam Brownback is a better known name, and polls say he will win, over lesser known Democrat, Tom Holland.
So, I do not see how my vote can help any Democrat,
other than emotional support,
and hope for some day.
