Already diaried overnight by Trobone, tip him kindly for getting there first, but this deserves more exposure.
Via Talking Points Memo, the AP is reporting that the Pentagon's troops survey is now complete. In a big shocker to nobody in the reality-based community, the troops' attitudes are just like the rest of the country's: most of them are just fine with DADT repeal.
What makes this all the more satisfying is that this comes even after the survey design was blasted for using questions and language biased against LGBTs. Despite that, the troops - 400,000 of them were surveyed, plus 150,000 family members - appear to have dealt the final death blow to the bogus "unit cohesion" argument.
Precise details are as yet vague: the official release is not until December 1st. Hopefully this will provide the final push to get repeal passed in the lame duck, but GOTV to make sure the Senate composition doesn't get too much more unfavorable: remember, the winners of the special elections (NY, IL, FL, CO, WV, DE) will be seated during the lame duck.
Even if Congress doesn't act, it should at least provide another data point to ensure the ill-advised appeal of Log Cabin Republicans fails.
