I attended the Tom Perriello rally in Charlottesville, Virginia last night. I'd never seen a President in person, so it was an exciting and emotional experience for me. People from all over the 5th district travelled to Charlottesville to see Tom and the President. Officials were expecting 4,000 or so. The local NBC station estimated that 8,000 showed up. Not everyone could get into the Pavillion to see, so they stood on the downtown mall and listened. I hope the message stays with them.
More:
Tom spoke first, and, as I listened to his message, I appreciated how much we have at stake in this election. Some may say that nothing has changed over the past two years, or that the country is headed in the wrong direction, but I couldn't disagree more. We've made great strides in health insurance reform, education, and veteran's care, to name a few. You know, the kinds of things that benefit ALL Americans.
We've already come too far to go back but I fear that will happen if we lose the House and the Senate. I think the President says it better than I ever could:
I moved back to Virginia from California earlier in the year, and I'm so happy to be able to vote for the hardest working man in Congress, Tom Perriello! I'm looking forward to helping with GOTV efforts tomorrow in Fluvanna County!

PS--After he spoke, President Obama shook hands with some in the crowd. I was fortunate enough to be one of them! It was awesome!<</p>
