This week, President Obama and Arlen Specter (who Joe Sestak soundly defeated in the primary) are BOTH campaigning on Sestak's behalf this week. Toomey IS too conservative for Pennsylvania.
Sestak's newest, hard-hitting ad, just out, ties Toomey to Sarah Palin and Rick Santorum, and makes this point well.
Ways you can help Sestak, video, and quotes after the fold.
What do you, dear reader, have in common with Rick Santorum?
Coming up empty in response to that question?
Well, I've got the answer: you both think that Republican Senate candidate Pat Toomey is "too conservative for Pennsylvania."
That's right, Rick Santorum thinks that Toomey is too conservative for Pennsylvania. That of course is not the same thing as him being too conservative. Santorum and the rest of the increasingly-fringey Republican Party will be pleased as punch if Toomey wins and tries to usher in another era of fiscal insanity and social backwardness that we can't afford.
Here's the video of the ad, now playing, according to PA2010, in the Philadelphia media market:
Transcript:
JOE SESTAK: I'm Joe Sestak and I authorize this message.
NARRATOR: Meet Pat Toomey, Pennsylvania's most right wing Congressman.
VIDEO OF TOOMEY: "My voting record is pretty hard to distinguish from Rick Santorum's."
NARRATOR: Toomey called Sarah Palin a "a spectacular governor," and Toomey opposes a woman's right to choose.
VIDEO OF TOOMEY: "I would support legislation in Pennsylvania that would ban abortion and I suggest that we have penalties for doctors that perform them."
VIDEO OF TOOMEY: "My voting record is pretty hard to distinguish from Rick Santorum's."
NARRATOR: Pat Toomey - he's not on our side.
Awesome ad. Let's hope we see more of this. Two debates scheduled for Oct. 20 and 22 --- Obama's coming to campaign for Sestak this weekend in Philly:
President Barack Obama will headline a rally in Philadelphia this weekend that's open to the public as he tries to invigorate Democratic voters ahead of two crucial statewide races.
Obama will be joined Sunday by U.S. Senate candidate Joe Sestak and gubernatorial candidate Dan Onorato. The rally is at a park next to Robert Fulton Elementary School in the city's Germantown section.

And even Arlen Specter is going to be fundraising for the man who beat him in the primary:
U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter, whose job Mr. Sestak would take over if he defeats Republican Pat Toomey, will host a fundraiser Monday at a downtown Philadelphia law firm, the Democratic congressman's campaign confirmed today.
Democratic Sens. Bob Casey and Charles Schumer are also expected to attend.

Because let's face it and admit that Santorum is right - Pat Toomey is too conservative for Pennsylvania.
Help make Joe Sestak the next senator from the Keystone state. (And bonus! avoid another six years of diaries on this site about how much Senator Toomey ~shudder~ sucks more than Santorum.)
