Just a note to any California voters who still have their mail-in ballots - Secretary of State Debra Bowen says not to mail them today. If you do, they will not be counted.
All CA mail-in ballots have to be officially received by 8PM tonight. The only pratical way at this point to have your mail-in ballot officially received is to drop the ballot off at your local polling place. If you are not sure where that is, check the polling place locator at the California Secretary of State webpage. [UPDATE - You can drop your ballot off at any polling place within your county.]
Apologies; I know this is not strictly a diary. But I thought it important enough, today, to warrant one.
Vote!
UPDATE - Additional information from the CA SoS website:
You may return your voted vote-by-mail ballot by 1) mailing it to your county elections official; 2) returning it in person to a polling place or the elections office in your county on Election Day; or 3) authorizing a relative or person living in the same household as you to return the ballot on your behalf. Regardless of how the ballot is returned, it MUST be received by the county elections office by the time polls close at 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Late-arriving vote-by-mail ballots will not be counted.
2d UPDATE - Rec list - thanks to everyone for that. And I'm glad I could help out in some small way. Good luck today!
