Yeah, we lost the U.S. House, which is horrible.
Here in Michigan, however, it's not just horrible--it's a fucking catastrophe.
I realize that, for whatever reason, the MI-Gov pickup by the GOP still hasn't been added to kos' liveblogs, even though it was a foregone conclusion before the polls even opened here. So, for those of you who aren't aware of the situation, here it is:
MI-Gov/MI-Lt.Gov: Rick Snyder (R) and his Boy Wonder just squashed Dems Virg Bernero and Brenda Lawrence.
MI-Atty Gen: Bill Schutte (R) held the office for the GOP.
MI-SoS: Ruth Johnson (R) beat the single most-qualified SoS candidate in the history of the world, Jocelyn Benson. This one sucked, hard.
MI-State Senate: The GOP just went from a slim majority to a Supermajority.
MI-State House: The GOP just picked up 16 fucking seats, going from the minority to the majority.
MI-SC: The 2 GOP candidates, Bob Young (incumbent) and Mary Beth Kelly just flipped the state Supreme Court from a 4:3 Dem majority to a 4:3 GOP majority.
In short, come January, the Republican Party will have COMPLETE control over EVERY branch of the Michigan state government. Governor, both state houses, and the judiciary.
All of which will be happening just as the U.S. auto industry--which was saved EXCLUSIVELY by the Democrats--starts kicking ass and taking names again.
Needless to say, this sucks.
Oh, yeah--Mark Schauer (MI-07) just conceded to Tim Teabagger Walberg as well.
And, of course, my "pet project" this year (Lance Enderle in MI-08) never really stood a chance.
About the only bright spot is that Gary Peters (MI-09), my own Congressman, seems to have survived the bloodbath...although that's still not certain.
Meh.
Update: Great, our misery is on the Rec list. Yee-hah.
Oh, yeah, I forgot the best part: I made a bet with a teabagger (a guy I went to high school with) about whether the GOP would take the U.S. House or not. Now I have to buy him dinner. Oh, goody.
