[UPDATE #11]
Cooley declared victory and scheduled a victory press conference for Wednesday morning. But as the race tightened, Cooley's campaign announced he was canceling the press conference until the race had a more definitive result.
[UPDATE 12]
The email I received this morning (Nov.4) from the Kamala Harris Campaign:
date: Thu, Nov 4, 2010 at 8:32 AM
subject: Status Update -- We're in the Lead
Dear Arthur,
In spite of Steve Cooley’s declaration of victory at 11:00 pm Tuesday night – which was followed six hours later by a cancellation of a Wednesday morning “victory” press conference – San Francisco District Attorney Kamala Harris will be the next Attorney General of the State of California. Here is why:
- With 100% of precincts reporting, Kamala Harris has won the Election Day count by 14,838 votes, 45.9% to 45.7%.
- Uncounted ballots will only bolster Kamala Harris's lead, as they will reflect Harris's strong Election Day advantage.
- Considering that Cooley jumped out to a 50% to 42% lead on Tuesday night thanks to early absentee ballots – and considering where the vote total ended up – our model shows that Kamala Harris clearly won the vote on Election Day by 3%. The provisional ballots cast on Tuesday will reflect Harris’s victory.· The late absentee ballots will reflect Harris’s late surge in the race – which was captured both in public and private polling.
We will be providing updates on a regular basis in the coming days.
Thank you for all your support,
Ace Smith

This will be a super tight race. Writing this up then going to bed.
Currently, with %60 reporting statewide, Cooley leads Harris by 50K. They are not reporting Riverside, Ventura, or Alameda counties AT ALL right now. Big fat zero.
I went to all three of the county sites. With 100% reporting in Alameda, she leads by 123K.
Here's the link: acgov.org
With %60 reporting in Riverside, Cooley is leading by 46K.
Here's the link: voteinfo.net
With %75 reporting in Ventura County, Cooley leads Harris by 22K.
Here's the link: recorder.countyofventura.org
Harris currently leads Cooley in LA County, but that's been fully reported on the state site, so no change there. But as more precincts report in, her lead could grow in LA

Alameda (2+ / 0-)
Heard that the final 10% of votes reported from Alameda actually gave Cooley back 5000 more than Harris. So that carves into her lead a little.

Kamala Harris is ahead... (3+ / 0-)
And is in good shape for a WIN! Steve Cooley wants to enact Prop 8 and to close all medical marijuana dispensaries -- plus he'd be a tool for the corporate vampires that dumped money into the race against Harris.

Riverside is the slowest county to finish counting in CA, EVERY election. Might be several days before Riverside finishes.
But, with 20k+ votes out in L.A. and another 80k still out in Santa Clara county, I predict Harris could win this by 25,000 to 40,000 votes statewide.
yay, us!

A poem I wrote and published here on dailykos last Friday for my Kamala diary...
"All Politics is Local"
all battles are personal,
all issues are of the heart,
all concerns are important,
the devil's in the details,
the god's in the details,
the mastery's in the details,
we must never give up,
for each and every fight,
for civil rights,
for environmental causes,
for local leaders,
for personal heroes,
for solitary plights,
we must never give up,
it all matters,
everything matters,
everyone matters,
if one person is abused denied violated,
we are all abused denied violated,
we could all be abused denied violated,
every thing matters,
every vote matters,
all battles are personal,
all wars are personal,
all challenges are personal,
we are not alone, because we, together,
care about each other,
we fight alongside each other,
we fight for each other,
we fight to defend each other,
we listen, we hear, we respond,
because we care,
because all battles are personal,
because all politics is local
