The local candidate I've been working with, MT State Representative Kendall Van Dyk, who is running for State Senate against incumbent Roy Brown, appears to have won by 16 votes (!) out of about 6,100 cast, pending a recount.
I'm proud to have been part of this campaign.
Rep. Van Dyk made the DLCC's first 20 Essential Races list, and he was bucking a powerful wave in unseating the GOP incumbent.
Senator Roy Brown was the 2008 GOP nominee to run against Gov. Schweitzer and was trounced in the General Election
This race was the most expensive in MT State Legislature history, with both candidates raising north of $100,000- the previous record had been $67,000 for one candidate.
The election was very negative, with attack ads and mailers going back and forth, but in the end it appears like we've been victorious.
One of the GOP mailers--
Forgive me that this diary is so short, I just wanted to get this out because I'm so happy that this turned out well in a night that was otherwise so horrible.
