While it wasn't a perfect evening in California, it was damn good night for Democrats in the Golden State, if you ask me...

The Dems took EVERY state election and what I personally would consider the two main Propositions on the ballot, 23 fighting agianst oout of state oil money to turn back the environmental clock and 25, getting rid of the stagnating 2/3rd budget requirement.
Yes, I realize all is not perfect, Proposition 19 and 21 would have been great, Dan Lungren beat out Ami Bera fairly comfortably in CA-03 and CA-11 is still too close to call, but really out of 53 seats, at best one blue to red switch.
The state legislature is still firmly in Democratic control (basically no change in D/R divide) and with the passage of Prop 25 there is some hope to Sacramento not being a wasteland of uselessness.
The state firmly rejected the squandering away of $160 million in a state with a 12% unemployment rate, a huge budget deficit, with Meg Whitman's empty promises, tax cuts for the rich, and threats to fire 40,000 state employees. Californians were not fooled by Carly Fiorina's money and whack-a-doodle ads.
I am so proud to be a Californian right now (even if I do live in CA-03), a state lambasted too often for being "out-of-touch", a bit loony or what have you. But at least for one day California proved itself one of the sanest states in the country.
Sanity prevails in California!
