I have learned some lessons in life.
Never call home at 0200 in the morning when you are drunk and away from home.
Don't send angry e mails. At least without walking away from the computer and doing a reread... ( how many of us come to regret that so inviting send button? ).
Don't feed the trolls. ( although it's sooo fun and easy )

But I am sorely tempted to break those simple rules tonight and post an angry diary....and accept the consequences thereof. ( but only mild ones....fragile psyche and all...LOL.)

I am angry about Tuesday. Because my team lost? No.....

Hell no. I grew up in politics. My first job was when I was 14. I was paid to work ( at the pricely sum of $5.00 a day -- and it took pull to get that )  on a campaign during the summer, preparing a candidates run for that fall. I stuffed envelopes, took stuff of the telux ( I'm dating myself ) and did a whole lot of joe jobs.

And got hooked.

In other words, been there, done that. Won some ( got my personal faves ), lost some. My Dad went down one night in November ( that one sucked ) so I know what it feels like ( afer that one, my brothers pic was in the paper. Most flattering it was, what with the shoving of the media guy with the camera thingy.....). Spent my whole life around the game. For better or worse. But there it is. Louis 14 said "Le stat et moi"
And politics is me. God knows, non political-but voting- Mrs eastvan has suffered.....I like to say, and she  sadly agrees, that she has forgotten more about politics than most people ever learn through her 'fleeting' association with me. So I am used to downs.....

Oh I went through the stages - denial, recounts!, all that stuff. But I can't come to acceptance. Especially after watching Colbert tonight. I can't help but think his duet with Elvis Costello - 'Dream' was a direct statement on this week. And it hit me like a body shot. it could be taken as a lament...but perhaps it was a clarion call. And I was down untill I realized that.

So I am stuck on anger. Not because my side lost an election. That happens.

It's how.

It's not because of bad policy. This was the most productive Congress in many a year. It's because the message was stolen. It was stolen because Democrats who should know better across the board refused to push back against lies, disinformation and manipulation. This was exerbated by so many 'dirty tricks' practised against the message ( a la O'Keefe/Breitbart ) and fed by a lazy media interested in the easy story, not the real one. ( GOP operatives now admit to setting up Bob Etheridge in that 'encounter' -- after denials )

And we let it happen. Oh not all of us. Says me. Let me rephrase that. All of us. Including moi.

So what do we do?  Simple. Take back the narrative. Play by their rules. They want to follow Reps around and set them up?
So should we.

They want to investigate? They got ties. Lets look at those.

They want to make shit up like $200,000,000 a day for a Presidential trip? Don't take that shit.  Throw out the gloves. Not going to need them for a while. It is not a fair fight. They threw out the rule book. But that doesn't mean they can't eat it. And that we shouldn't cram it down their throat.

We have seen the round up of the Blue Dog faction of the Democrat's. And see it leads straight to the pound. Time for a new faction.....

Blue Pooties.... Democrats with claws, attitude and fangs.  Good ratters on the hunt. Ready to flush 'em out. No more mercy.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
