Please explain to me why the general public, including the president, cannot comprehend the concept that natural gas is just another limited fossil fuel. Not only is it limited, but the process of drilling for it is just as toxic, if not more toxic than drilling for oil (both on and off shore) and the buildup of all our landfills (nonbiodegradeables and nuclear wastes in particular.)
Gasland does a very good job of explaining what the process is, and the completely destructive drilling process which not only destabilizes the earth's crust (you know the ground that we live on), but poisons our aquifers (our drinking water people!) Where do we think we are going to get water. The water that comes out of those plastic bottles still comes from the aquifers that we are in the process of poisoning right now. (sarcasm intended)
Why aren't we hitting up these billionaires for funding on research for alternative fuel sources. We can easily make the case that R&D in these areas can bring big dividends to them as well as the general welfare of the people of this country. There is no reason why we can't prove the case of profit and policies for the common good can be symbiotic in our world. There is no excuse for this country to continue these incredibly stupid energy policies.
If we start locally, and work our way up the government chain proving that we do have alternatives, amazing things can happen. Please don't give up now.
