There is a diary on the wreck list, calling out Kossacks who want to become American-European Citizens.
That diary says that Kossacks considering emigration are:
"turning tail and fleeing."
"cutting and running."
"[going to] take [their] ball and go home."
"[going] to run away from America with your tails between your legs "
The above quotes are all taken from the same diary.
Let's look at this from another perspective. Let's look back on the history of emigration from Europe, to the United States. Here is a partial list of countries that European-Americans emigrated from:
Norway
France
Ireland
Great Britain
The Netherlands
Sweden
Germany
Italy
Spain
Finland
Those European-American ancestors made the choice:
"To turning tail and fleeing."
"To cutting and running."
"[to] take [their] ball and go home."
"[to] run away.... with [their] tails between [their]legs"
Those ancestors came to the United States, seeking a better life for themselves and their posterity.
Fast-forward to contemporary America; we now find some European-Americans are contemplating a return to the land of their ancestors. Why? Because they want a better life for themselves and their posterity.
However the Kossacks supporting this diary and the comments cited, take exception to that sentiment.
To them, when it comes to "voting with your feet", then emigrating from Europe to America is perfectly acceptable; it is even considered an integral part of the "American Dream".
But emigrating from America to Europe? That's DIFFERENT.
WHY is it different? Well....because it just is!
America is the EXCEPTION!
