My title speaks for itself.
Yes, it is class war. Wall Street and the very rich are winning. Everyone else is taking a beating.
The Democratic party of 2010 looks like the Republican party of 2002. And I am fucking disgusted.
Hey, remember that time we cut taxes for all the rich people and then at the end of the decade EVERYONE LOST THEIR JOBS AND THEIR HOMES?
If Democrats can't bring back the old tax rate on the wealthiest 2% of Americans by three percentage points then there is NO FUCKING POINT IN VOTING FOR THEM. We are talking a 3% difference that costs $700 billion dollars. Without that we get deficits. It's three points. The rich can easily afford 3 percentage points. I know this because they are fucking rich.
If Democrats are so wholly owned themselves by the corporatist Oligarchy that they can't end a failed policy like this that will benefit the 98% of people in America who earn less than a quarter million dollars a year, if they have compromised sooooo much in under a decade by moving to the right, then there is no fucking point voting anymore for them because what I am essentially getting by voting Democratic in 2010 is the Republican party of 2002.

We didn't get ObamaCare, we got JoeLIEberman care. This was the bill Joe Lieberman would sign, anything less corporatist wasn't going to get signed by Joe Lieberman, or Ben Nelson or Mark fucking Warner. They took the Republican position of Mitt Romney from the 90's. The formula of the kabuki is pathetically predictable at this point, Republican throws hissy fit, Dems cave on an issue and move right, David Broder becomes aroused and the center becomes the far right from 5 minutes ago. Democrats have not WON voters while moving to the right, their policies are not better for it for the public, and instead of progress we are getting regress on jobs, the trade deficit that NO ONE in DC wants to talk about, on and on, because living standards are falling for the poorer 98% of America and if Democratic Leaders do not have bold plans to help them then there is no fucking point in voting for Democrats anymore.
If the "Change I Can Believe In" is really just the same bullshit the other guy couldn't talk me into just earlier you should expect me to be unenthusiastic.
Because the reality is that left leaning Democratic voters are not the easily fleeced Fox Viewers who defend Rush and Beck and their sole sources of misinformation. We will not fall for the same stupid shit everytime the way the same dumbshits who fell for "WMDs IN IRAQ OH NOES!" fell for "DEATH PANELS OH NOES!" and "SOCIAMALISM OH NOES!" and every other astroturfed, News Corporation LIE they try to stick to the wall. They are true believers, the same John Birchers from Eisenhowers day. The Republican party is the party of decades ago, when black people knew their damned place and women shut their mouths unless they agreed, the party of a century ago with the same Hoovernomics they've always had, whether they've dressed it up as "Rugged Individualism" or "Free Markets". The GOP wants to live in a world where they can do all the same things they were up to BEFORE the Great Depression and FDR. If the Democrats are trying to meet the GOP in the middle on that, fuck them, they are worthless to me.
If both American political parties are dominated by conservatives who prefer Milton Friedman style "unfettered free market" economics that serve only to enrich the already rich at the expense of everyone else than our Democracy is a joke. If both the Democratic and Republican parties are corrupt and doing only the bidding of the rich people who bribe them with campaign donations then there is no choice, there is no difference, and there is no point to voting because the game is rigged.
So, what should the Democratic party do to try to enact good policies for the working class that will uncompromisingly stand up to the super rich and their corporate trusts and win over voters. I suggest trying to enact good policies for the working class that will uncompromisingly stand up to the super rich and their corporate trusts. Do that and then loudly campaign on your best accomplishments. That will help you win over voters.
But if you are just going to eventually agree with the GOP on things like Tax Cuts, or Mountain Top Removal mining, or deep water off shore drilling, or the Patriot Act, or the Public Option, or staying at war another year or another decade or in another country, if Democrats are just selling old failed republican ideas and selling out the best interests of we the people then our Democracy really is a joke.
Yes, there are good Democrats, but few and far between. On the right there is no HOPE, just cynicism, corruption and deceit. The closer you are to the right, the farther you are from me and my interests. That is why I don't vote Republican. If Democrats can't figure out that doing a moderate Republican impersonation for 2 years will not earn them enough votes to win elections then they are doing it on purpose and our Democracy is a total fucking joke, because whether you voted for them or not your going to get some version of Milton Friedman's trickle down Reaganomics. Most Democrats didn't vote for that thirty years ago. Why the hell would we want it now?
///End rant/////
UPDATE: Just to make myself clear
I'm not saying you should not vote, sorry
I didn't mean to say we shouldn't vote, I'm saying if Dems are just going to regurgitate failed GOP policies from years ago and agree with Republicans then it is pure kabuki. If Dems are corporatist tools too, we are fucked.
So who should we be kicking, corporatist sell outs or hippies? That is my point.
