or "you get the leadership you deserve"
from the front page poll jed links to.
53% say they want to continue the Bush tax cuts for all income levels; 12% would allow them all to expire and 32% would allow tax cuts on income above $250,000 to expire. This 53-44 split is the mirror image of August polling by AP-GfK, which showed a 52-45 split.
you know allowing the bush tax cuts for millionaires to expire is a good idea. i know allowing them to expire is a good idea.
guess, what? THE UNITED F**KING STATES ( or at least more than half of the people in it ) DOESN'T READ DAILYKOS. IT DOESN'T KNOW THAT. in fact, it thinks allowing the bush tax cuts to expire is a bad idea.
this is what we're up against. most people WANT to continue the bush tax cuts for millionaires.
while we bitch about obama, (which is fair to do) we should be bitching about our neighbors.
fighting to repeal the millionaire's tax cut is something would be unpopular with the majority of americans. it's fine to talk about how its all obama's decision (it sort of is) and how he's in the pocket of big monied interests(he is; every federal politician is to varying degrees), but guess what obama's not who you're up against here. you are up against your neighbors, or the people you see at the water cooler that don't read your lefty weblog.
so, i've got an idea. instead of online bitching about how your leaders aren't fighting for something you and i want, but that the majority of the country doesn't want, why not get out there and win a few converts to our side?
