Bah humbug, it's too early to hear this?
The crowd at Macy's didn't think it was too early....maybe it's never too early to hear perhaps the most famous chorus ever written...and particularly when you aren't expecting it.
On Saturday, October 30, 2010, the opera company of Philadelphia brought together over 650 choristers from 28 organizations to perform in one of the Foundation's "Random Acts of Culture" at Macy's in Philadelphia. The chorus infiltrated the store (disguised as shoppers) and burst into a pop-up rendition of the Halleluiah Chorus from Handel's Messiah. They were accompanied by the famousWanamaker organ - the world's largest pipe organ.
