Unquestionably, Evan Bayh is your consummate Democratic Rustbelt Sell-out. So bye, bye, Evan Bayh.
Folks, please help me here, I just don't understand something. Ever since Ronald Reagan co-opted the so-called "Reagan Democrats," who helped elect an army of Republican politicians in each of the election cycles during and following his administration, who then went about OUTSOURCING millions and millions of good paying American jobs from the Rustbelt at light speed, didn't the hardworking, middle class voters in the Rustbelt even notice what was happening to them, and by whom? Apparently, they didn't. Indeed, to a large degree, that's exactly how the Rustbelt became the Rustbelt.
Incredibly, the Rustbelt voters in states like Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Pennsylvania, etc. readily rewarded this ECONOMIC TREACHERY by sending these very same traitor politicians right back to Congress to go about doing the very same thing to them - selling them out en masse. Gosh, why are these voters such suckers for perpetual punishment? I just don't know. Perhaps, "stupid is as stupid does" is really a valid truism. Sorry for the harshness of words; however, that's all I can conclude right now.
Please follow me after the fold.
Did you know that corporations like GE (and GE is not the worst of its kind) get to deduct from their taxes everything they spend in building massive factories overseas, often billions of dollars? They also get to deduct the costs incurred in the training of foreign workers to perform the good jobs that American workers had been performing just a month, and sometimes even a week, before.
Did you also know that the U.S. Government actually pays these Benedict Arnold Corporations to send overseas good American jobs in droves. They do it in the form of giving them TAX CREDITS, which are dollar for dollar deductions against any final tax due the I.R.S.. The tax legislation that enabled this monumental rip off also allows these American corporations to file back any of these PAPER LOSSES and CREDITS against a previous year's profit. Therefore, we often see the huge corporate outsourcers being given hefty tax rebates, and it is often in the billions of dollars amounts. Thus, it is not a rare instance when an American corporation which has real yearly profits is given a billion dollar rebate against the tax on a previous year's profits, only because they were so damn good at shipping good American jobs overseas. That's right, they send the I.R.S. nothing, yet the I.R.S. sends them billions of your hard earned tax dollars. Isn't this also just another form of corporate welfare and a redistribution of income from the broken backs of the middle class to our corporate overloads? What's wrong with this picture, folks?
Yet it gets worse. Via the Democratic Stimulus Bill, billions of taxpayer dollars were sent overseas to actually train foreign workers at a faster pace to take over a mountain of recently expatriated American jobs. Isn't that utter madness, and particularly during our current economic down time. Again, I guess "stupid is as stupid does" is really a valid truism.
Yet here is the real kick in ass: The U.S. Government CANNOT - by self-imposed tax law restrictions - tax any of the profits of these Benedict Arnold Corporations which are generated in foreign countries; and these profits are often quite substantial. So if you are an American corporation and do not want to pay any taxes, and perhaps even get back a fat cat, tax rebate in the process, simply outsource thousands of American jobs at a time. That will certainly do it. Indeed, that's why GE did not pay a single penny in corporate income taxes last year, although they made billions in real profits; and again, GE is certainly not the worst of its breed, folks. Now the American automakers are doing the very same thing. But, of course, they are not alone. Also, outsourcing to Brazil is now happening big time. Brazil actually now pays American companies hard cash to outsource there.
You know, I often follow the stock market for news; and I can tell you that when an American company announces that it is off-shoring a large number of American jobs, it's stock customarily rises between 5 and 10%; and this often occurs in a single day, i.e. the Caterpillar Corporation and Amazon.
I do not know how you might describe it, but I describe this continung monetary blood lust of our corporate rulers nothing less than corporate America cannibalizing the American middle class in large chunks at a time.
Alas, it's now so very clear: America has de facto become a nation by, for, and of the global corporate shareholder and their corporate officers, boards and overlords? Hey, can you say Citizens United? How's that for your New World Order. Indeed, it's already here, folks? Are you enjoying it?
By the way, taking steps to put an end to outsourcing was the most winning issue that Democrats had in this last election. Independents, as well as many Republicans (that's right even a substantial number of Republicans), were very concerned about the utter insanity of allowing continued outsourcing. Unquestionably, this was one of the biggest, if not the very biggest, winning issue for the Democratic Party during this last midterm election across the entire country. However, one would not have known that from the deafening silence concerning outsourcing that was apparent in many areas across the length and breadth of our country, and particularly in the Rustbelt and south.
Indeed, most Democrats in the Northeast campaigned loudly on this issue; and so did the Democrats along the West Coast; and they were big winners. Again, however, in the Rustbelt states and the south, it was not made a big issue, if it was mentioned at all, and the Democrats from those areas simply got murdered en masse in the latest midterm election. Again, I just do not understand the Rustbelt voters and their stubborn insistence upon committing both economic and political suicide, year after election year. Is there an "abuse syndrome" at work here, folks?
Not surprisingly, Mr. Evan Bayh - along with other Senators such as Blanche Lincoln, Nelson of Nebraska, Pryor, Kent Conrad, and even Chris Dodd, etc. - have been part of the Republican spearhead who have made outsourcing a terrible reality for the middle class over the years. In short, they have been Democratic Republican Enablers who have been instrumental in sentencing the American worker and the middle class to a slow and agonizing death spiral in our country for far too long already.
So, again, bye, bye, Evan Bayh - and the same to you Blanche Lincoln and Chris Dodd. I sure hope that the fat cat, high paying jobs that corporate America will be providing to you will not ease your consciences even one iota. That is if you really have consciences. Indeed, may you suffer as long as the middle class is going to suffer as a result of your long term duplicity with our Republican overlords.
Others have described Evan Bayh for the true American traitor that he really is far better than I could have. Here is what LeftHandedMan had to say about the illustrious Evan Bayh at http://www.dailykos.com/...
He raised quite a shitload of money, as a corporatist centrist is likely to do, raise a ton of money, then he didn't run for re-election for his Indiana Senate seat.
Massive refunds? Nope. Donating selflessly to his party to defend cash-strapped peers who aren't quite as adept at shaking their money makers like a stripper on the pole? Nada.
He's kept it. Like Donald Duck with that giant pearl from the old cartoon where he was ranting on and on and on about "I'm rich, I'm rich, I'm a wealthy miser!"
I don't know what's worse, that he took the cash and kept it after sitting out the race that I'm sure plenty of his in-state individual political supporters (besides all the corporate cash I'm sure he was lavishly showered in he must have his share of die-hard supporters back home) sent him because they wanted to support him running again for that Senate seat, or that he deliberately sat on all of it "in case of... vague future political considerations to, maybe, be named later", or that he might have intended to chew and screw with the cash all along and kept fundraising as if he was always planning on running until the last minute to get as much green in his 'future considerations' fund as humanly possible.
I thank you for your amusing but powerful words, LeftHandedMan.
Yep, Evan Bayh - a consummate Democratic Outsourcer took his money and went home to brood the fact that he wasn't able to actively offshore many more good American jobs. Yet, for those in the Rustbelt and elsewhere who still adore this particular American politician, worry not. I do expect him to run for President in the not too distant future, although I'm quite sure he'd be very happy to serve us all as the Vice President of the United States, just like he served the good citizens of Indiana during his tenure in the U.S. Senate. So, if that does occur, do expect a lot more outsourcing, folks
People, when the hell are we simply going to DEMAND that it all stop? I guess the real question is: Do we have it within us to scream to the top of our lungs that enough is enough, my friends. Or, perhaps, we just don't have a saturation point and are all too willing to beg for what we can get from the plutocrats, and the bought and sold, duplicit politicians who currently run America. Indeed, it's now the Political, Military and Industrial Complex that now decides for all of us, by virtue of our own implied consent, given to it by our inaction time after time after we silently suffer these kinds of dehumanizing, political and economic insults and assaults.
Please, you Rustbelt voters, when are you going to think through exactly why you are, and will continue to be, the Rustbelt of America; that is, short of you finally realizing who has enslaved you for so long? I sure hope it's soon; and I say this respectfully and with great hope that you will soon rise up and do what is in your own, longterm best interests.
You know, folks, Ed Schultz at MSNBC has been screaming about this omnipresent issue for over a year now. So much so, I'm afraid his fervor might actually end up getting him fired. I sure hope not, because like Keith Olbermann, he really does have middle class America's back.
