This diary asks people to take a serious look at the options for 2012.
I am confused. What do the "primary Obama" folks and the Jane Hamsher crowd want? Do you want Obama to lose in 2012 and hope and pray that President Romney or President Palin will give you everything you want? Do you want the party to spend millions trying to save Obama in costly primaries across the country ?
For the life of me, I am trying to figure out what do you think is going to happen if you wake up to a President Palin or President Bush November 3, 2012. Will said President immediately pull all troops out of Afghanistan? Will they give you that public option that the left wants so much?
And speaking of Afghanistan, Senator Obama promised in no uncertain terms to expand the war if elected. So whenever I hear about Democrats complaining about President Obama doubling down in Afghanistan I cannot help but think "if you are so opposed to the war, then why did you vote a candidate who promised to expand the war if elected? The following is taken from one of the many interviews where candidate Obama voiced support for the Afghanistan war.
"The Afghan government needs to do more. But we have to understand that the situation is precarious and urgent here in Afghanistan. And I believe this has to be our central focus, the central front, on our battle against terrorism."

For those of you who are unaware Justice Kennedy claims that he is going to retire in 2012 and you know what that means that a Republican president will nominate a Republican Supreme Court Justice. The following is taken from the NY Daily News Website.
WASHINGTON - President Obama may get liberal Elena Kagan on the Supreme Court, but conservative swing-voter Anthony Kennedy says he's not going anywhere anytime soon.
Justice Kennedy, who turns 74 this month, has told relatives and friends he plans to stay on the high court for at least three more years - through the end of Obama's first term, sources said.
That means Kennedy will be around to provide a fifth vote for the court's conservative bloc through the 2012 presidential election. If Obama loses, Kennedy could retire and expect a Republican President to choose a conservative justice.

And if Obama loses, do the Obama haters really want this newly renergized Republican Supreme Court deciding DOMA or DADT?
Also, if a Republican does win in 2012, that Republican will be in the same position that Obama was in in 2008, in that his party will control both the house and the senate. I do not have to remind you of the precarious position that Senate Democrats are in in 2012. It is a very real possibility that Senate Democrats could lose the Senate. And with the economy that will surely have rebounded by 2012, Democrats could face the possibility of being a minority party for who knows how long. President Romney could pull a Reagan and serve two terms himself, while his vice president also waits for his turn at the Whitehouse.
I am not a diary person. But when I went to Firedoglake yesterday and read posts about how Obama should be impeached and the suggestion of names for a primary opponent, I just thought to myself: What do these people want ?
As for the Bush tax cuts, suppose Obama does veto any bill that makes the tax cuts for the rich permanent. That would also require him to raise taxes on the bottom 98%. I seriously doubt that the unemployed steel worker in Harriburg, Pennsylvania is going to a crap Obama's "principles". All he is going to do is blame Obama for raising his taxes.
Yes, I am a proud Obama supporter and I do not think that the solution is to clap louder as some have put it. I just look at my options and I do not want to wake up to a President Huckabee on November 3. That is what happens in a two-party system, you are often forced to vote for the lesser evils.
