So we're hearing all of this hemming and hawing about how the democrats should compromise on extending the Bush tax cuts. I tend to agree that we should work in bipartisan fashion and compromise on the tax cuts.
We know that the tax cuts didn't do dick for the job market in the last ten years. The data is there to be beat into the heads of every Teajadeen out there. So we can almost be certain that letting the tax cuts expire will not negatively affect the economy.
With that out of the way, the compromise is simple: Since the tax cuts were set to expire on purpose because it would blow up the deficit if allowed to go any further, how about if we extend the tax cuts for the middle class and let all of the other ones expire. The middle class are the ones who really could use the tax cuts, so let's give them a break.
As you can see, I've said nothing new. Its the way I'm saying it. Time and time again, this administration and party, negotiate from a position of weakness and it haunts them every time. Extending the tax cuts for the middle class is the compromise. Temporarily extending them all or making them permanent, is NOT a compromise, but a cave in.
