I just saw a pro-privatization ad that gave me 10 seconds to think of any Democratic proposals for Social Security. I thought of three.
1- Raise the cap on payroll taxes over the current $90,000 limit.
2- Rollback the tax cuts on people making over $200,000 per year.
3- Reinstate the estate tax.
If you read any more a fairy dies.
It seems like a really easy ad to counter, just show their ad and have voice over that lists as many as possible in the 10 seconds. My little list may not be the best choices, all can be painted as raising taxes. The first one actually is raising taxes.
So what do you other random Internet people think? Is this a good idea and if so what proposals should be included? I know some of you have some better ideas, trust me I'm not that bright. Hopefully I won't forget to spell check this before I post it:)
While I'm at it should this somehow, through some obvious breakdown of the space time continuum, this actually becomes an ad. TV ads don't have to be 30 seconds you can buy 20, 15 and 10 second spots. This one seems like a 15 to me. "The (whoever made this ad) wants to know the Democratic proposals for Social Security here they are" (start stopwatch) and list the as many of the best ideas you can in 10 seconds.
