WTF is the problem with this administration? From the New York Times today:
and it continues:
I really dont get it. North Korea's regime is isolated under international sanctions, and in its desperation may simply go to war. But WTF are we doing there now? Why joint exercises with South Korea there in the "hot" area? That is exactly what may lead to war. Is that what the administration wants now? Is that what Gates and Colin Powell (and other war mongers) advised Obama to do? A new war front with North Korea? And if you think this can not happen, lets think again. It appears that there are again clashes going on today between South and North. At least that is what the picture in the NY Times article suggests.
I hope this will not escalate further and there will be no war there. But I think the current administration is as out of touch with reality, as the Bush administration was. After escalating an insane, non-winnable, war in Afghanistan, the Obama administration is playing "tough" to North Korea. To me that sounds crazy. The best way to deal with North Korea is simply to talk to them one on one and to lift the sanctions against them. To try to engage them in the international community. If fascist China can be a "partner", so can North Korea. They are not any worse than China.
UPDATE: Someone posted that the exercises were pre-planned. I did not know that. That changes everything and the original message of this diary no longer stands. However, I will not delete it and leave it on, as there is some interesting discussion.
