Everyday they call. Everyday it is the same mantra, this is a debt collector, we need to notify you that information obtained will be used for debt collection.
And they are all from the same set of people, all medical. Hospital, x-rays, labs, specialist, emergency doctors, etc etc etc
See Medicare only pays 80% the rest is up to you, but SSDI is barely enough to live let alone pay the doctors. And yet I hear the republicans want to cut us, want even more from me, and those like me, and we have nothing left.
since when do we attack each other in personal email???????????
Everyone makes it sound like this is a great security net, like falling here you don't hit the ground, break more than a few bones, and lay there in pain, begging while some guy tell you to go and get a job because your lazy.
It is the bottom, there is only homelessness beyond this, and if there is not a break in the medial bills, courts, and bankruptcy are in order.
God Bless the USA.
The correlation between homelessness and disabilities is high, and a significant proportion of adults who are homeless have serious mental illness, co-occurring substance use and long-term physical health problems.

the studies still come up with the same scenario, no institutions more homeless, no real medical coverage, no care, on the street with you. For someone like me, who owned homes, who worked all of her life, who THOUGHT she had built a nest egg for retirement. It all goes, and goes fast, to Doctors, and Hospitals mostly. Leaving us with no home, 2 beat up cars, instead of 2 new vehicles, and less than we ever imagined.
I was 48 when they told me I was dying, I hung on to my job until I was 51, now only three years later. and I can no longer drive alone, stay home alone too long, and many many other activities that I always love. Gardening, walking, dancing and what are we left with
the Bill
It will take my family a long time to recover financially from my illness, for that I am sorry

For a senior citizen you seem to have the maturity of an immature 8 year old. Oh, heavens you have to pay 20% of your health payments. Imagine that?
You can't live on Social Security? It was never intended for you to live on it. It was suppose to be a supplement. It's a ponzi scam. Why are you so greedy that you want your grandchildren to pay for your benefits? How selfish.
Social security is bankrupt. Medicare is bankrupt. The postal service is bankrupt. Amtrak is bankrupt......Time to grow up Princess..
Let me cover some of dr doom's points,
Social Security is a saving account, forced on us by the government, so I do not expect anyone to pay my way, I expect the government to honor the agreement and pay me back my money in a manner that allows me to live with dignity.
Pssst before you throw a stone, you should do your research:
SSI
1935 Social Security Act. Under the Act, Congress appropriated some funds for the program, but the rest of the money came from a payroll tax. Money was taken out of an employee's paycheck to help pay for Social Security, which in 1937 was about 2% of each paycheck. Older Americans, and later dependents and the disabled were given the money. Initially 60% of the workforce was covered by Social Security (by 1995, 95% of the workforce was covered). Ernest Ackerman was the first person to receive Social Security; he retired one day after the program began. For that one day the government withheld $.05 of his paycheck but later he got back a lump-sum payment of $.17. During the first few years of Social Security, eligible Americans received, on average, $58.06.
Before Franklin Roosevelt's administration, it was unusual for the government to give people money, and some Americans were against Social Security. In two cases, the Supreme Court ruled on the Constitutionality of the Social Security Act, but ruled in both instances that Congress could legislate on this national issue. Social Security is one of the many things still in place today because of Franklin Roosevelt. Americans still pay into Social Security while they work so that they will receive money when they stop working.
