If you're a political activist or a student of humanity, it's not enough to go after the bad guys. Spiritually, you need your vitamins. As part of your daily suplement of KOS, you need to be reminded of people who are truly admirable. One of America's greatest had his obit. in today's Washington Post. Probably you never heard of him, but you can now....
One of the most influential Americans of the 20th century has died. But probably you've never heard of him unless you, too, are a Native American.
Vine Deloria Jr., wrote thought-provoking bestsellers like, "Custer Died for Your Sins: An Indian Manifesto" and "Behind the Trail of Broken Treaties."
He was an activist, as well as a writer. According to an obituary I read today in The Washington Post, Deloria was credited with forcing U.S. government policy changes. He served as Executive Director of the National Congress of American Indians. In 1992, he brought suit against D.C.'s football team, demanding a change to the demeaning (also inaccurate) name of "Washington Redskins."
Still there's another reason to be interested in this remarkable man. Do you collect magnificent people, their faces and auras?
Maybe you should. I believe in this spiritual principle: Whatever you pay attention to grows stronger in your life.
If you're a political activist or a student of humanity, it's not enough to go after the bad guys. Spiritually, you need your vitamins. As part of your daily supplement of KOS, you need to be reminded of people who are truly admirable.
And if you're a student of deeper perception (which is my lifelong passion), you know this fascinating fact. When you pay attention to inspiring people at the deepest possible level, benefits come to you full force, extra strong.
So give yourself the equivalent of a gold mine. Let qualities of this extraordinary man become contagious, right in your soul. Use this photo to read right along with me: linked texthttp://www.aag.org/News/Website%20article_files/ACF303A.jpg .
THE FACE OF AN EMPASSIONED REALIST
Here I'll use my alphabet of physiognomy to analyze a face's most distinctive characteristics. (You can read about all these characteristics in more detail in my how-to, "Wrinkles Are God's Makeup, with free browsing available here" linked texthttp://www.rose-rosetree.com/wrinklesbook.htm)
Passion Power Style
Notice that Deloria's forehead is wider than his cheeks? This suggests the power style of someone who accomplishes more than most people. The potential challenge is impatience when others move too slowly.
Even-Angled Left Eye
Only 1 in 2,000 people has an even-angled eye. It symbolizes uncommon realism for assessing what people really do, what they really believe. Reportedly, Deloria was frustrated when dealing the U.S. government officials because they would look him in the eye and lie to him. If everyone had Deloria's discernment, people couldn't get away with this kind of malarkey.
Suffering Lines
Note the deep furrows between Deloria's nose and mouth, the only significant wrinkles on his face. They're about deep compassion for the suffering of others. This activist used his concern as impetus for action. Now let's explore some of the specialties that showed in his aura.
MORE AMAZING THAN YOUR GRANDMA'S AURA
Root Chakra
Vine was profoundly earthy, with extremely strong empathic abilities for connecting to the environment, animals, plants, minerals. Clairaudience (hearing the truth) was an especially significant modality for gaining knowledge.
When does love go beyond mere emotion, pushing a person to take action? Read this part of Deloria's aura and feel it for yourself. Magnificent! His very connection to earth helped him to become one stubborn, intractable fighter. Not pushy by nature, he fought because he had to, knowing what he knew, caring as he cared.
Intellect at the Solar Plexus
Analytical awareness was one of the ornaments of Deloria's distinctive brilliance. Degreed both as an attorney and theologian, he could take any argument apart and find the flaw, or he could construct a new argument with impeccable logic. In 2005, he received the American Indian Visionary Award. With an intellect like his, not surprising!
More striking to me, however, is his "temperature range" intellectually.
To see what I mean, read any KOS diary at random. Does the writer burn hot with indignation? Cold with fury? Even without being an aura reader, you can take anyone's emotional temperature through the writing.
Though I haven't read Deloria's books (yet), I'm fascinated by the range of temperatures revealed in his aura databank about intellectual functioning. He has cool logic, warm conviviality, hot idealism. Few people can boast such a range. If any of you at Daily KOS have read Deloria's work, can you comment about the way he reached out to readers? I'd expect his writing to show that uncommon range. Did it?
Soul and Spirit
Different levels of aura contain databanks for soul and spirit. Only 1 in 300 people really lives with soul, and often people with a strong spiritual connection are most at risk for under-living in the more "selfish" way of expressing as a human soul. (Let me know if you're curious about these terms and I can explain them more thoroughly.)
What's really extraordinary about Vine Deloria is that, for him, both soul and spirit are expressed strongly, fully, uncompromisingly. In fact, his soul and spirit actually merge.
In plain English, here's a man who fulfilled his human life and also served the world. He did both. He did them impeccably, with honesty and unpretentiousness.
Imagine if Elvis had managed to live his human life as well as he helped audiences.
Imagine if your most inspiring relative, say your sweet grandma, had managed a highly public activist career for over three decades. No matter how great her fame, she kept a pristine integrity, so she helped millions in just the same spirit as she used to help you.
This rare combination, public and personal greatness, both--this is the human legacy of Vine Deloria, Jr.
