The South Dakota Republican Party has not surprisingly issued a
statement on the recent ill-considered [to put it kindly] 'mercenary' comments.

Herseth's Internet Backers Make Shocking Statements about the Recent Killings in Iraq
The publisher of the Dailykos, an ultral-liberal internet site that Herseth has run paid advertising on, recently issued this shocking statement about the four contractors who were brutally killed, burned and hung in Iraq.
Every death should be on the front page... That said, I feel nothing over the death of merceneries. They aren't in Iraq because of orders, or because they are there trying to help the people make Iraq a better place. They are there to wage war for profit. Screw them. by kos on Thu Apr 1st, 2004 at 15:08:56 GMT
Herseth's association with this organization is simply shocking and it reveals a serious lapse in her judgment. These extremist views do not reflect the South Dakota values that Herseth claims to represent.
The Dailykos recently bragged about raising Herseth more than $21,000 in a single day from its viewers. If Herseth has any integrity, she will return all contributions she has received from the organization.
Due to intense criticism and threats of boycotting candidates who advertise on the Dailykos, the statement has been removed from their site.
