This is a world of uncertainty and contradiction, where confusion reigns and nothing can be taken for granted. Just as the cycles appear to offer us what we anticipated, uncertainty steps into the stream and the turbulent vortices begin to turn. Yet, no matter the tortured result of our last prediction, we continue to plan ahead.
When we look out over our lives, from any vantage point within, we see the long slow curve extending from birth to death. At times the future can appear as certain as yesterday in our deceived eyes. This is the context in which we understand the present moment. This is the means by which we find our bearing in a world that would otherwise prove too complicated to understand.
The condition of our existence is quite different than this. The long slow curve is an illusion, it is the manifestation of the will to extend our existence into reaches that simply will not welcome us. In its place the whirling and spinning violence of a universe being torn apart by forces that emerge from within it. Our every effort to construct a stable condition, undone by the very energy that created us. The appearance of a constant, steady state the product of trickery and deceit. Our minds sided with the gods in this battle; the illusion we accept in order to preserve our sanity.
It is in the ecstasy of an instant that we embrace the spiraling descent, and discover a way to climb with the dervish to heights unimagined. In our dive we take flight, and the nature of our condition is revealed. Finally rejecting deceptive comfort, casting off the warm embrace of the illusion, inviting the bitter cold bight of the vacuous universe. Here the power of existence is revealed.
This view, though esoteric, holds promise for resolving the problems that we face. At the center of the hurricane, where the isobars finally collide and the same force that draws the air in exhales it again, the energy of life resides. If we finally relinquish our demands of the world and replace them with an enthusiasm for living that rivals that of the tropical storm, all that oppose this force will fall. It is in overcoming the long slow curve of expectation, and embracing the tempestuous chaos of desire, that we find authentic engagement with the world.
Something extraordinary is enabled by this. Suddenly, the landscape around falls away, and the light of the projector goes dim. The darkness consumes us in a bitter cold embrace, and our will withers for a moment, swallowed up by the vacuum we have carved at the center of ourselves. No longer do we have demands, no more expectations. But from that silent moment grows the most profound desire. We are first touched by the warmth of its return; the beast awakens. This sensation grows, just as it has through the ages, until the perfect emotion of love fills the empty spaces. The grandest emotion, the gyroscope of our existence, the star in the heavens above; it guides without the convoluted map that clouds our mortal imagination.
