Politico reports that some very serious democrats are concerned about the deal.
"I think it’s troubling that he seems to be enthusiastic about it," Landrieu said of the president. "Enthusiastic about this new arrangement to dealing with the Republican caucus. According to their leader, their No. 1 objective is to unseat him. I can understand trying to appeal to independent voters, I do that myself. I think it’s very important. But this sort of enthusiasm for caucusing with the Republicans – and he did not even speak to the Democratic Caucus – not the liberal group, not the moderate group, not the conservative group."
These are the wrong people to look at stopping this deal. Landrieu is talking nonsense here. She has been horrendous on every issue since day one. It seems that she is just upset about not being the center of attention.
People that have proven themselves over the past 2 years to be the worst democratic senators in the world are telling me that they want to improve this deal. No thanks.
Others like Sens .Kent Conrad (D-N.D.), Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) have made comments suggesting they are more open to the compromise.
It is more likely that these guys actually make this thing worser then make the deal better.
To actually oppose this we would need 40 dem votes, not the centrist votes in the middle. All they are doing is taking up the airwaves.
I am trying to figure, if we did filibuster, or at least threaten too, who would be on the border of the likely 18 that we would lose. 19 If Lugar sides with us.
Landrieu, Nelson(NE), Manchin, Lieberman, Webb, Mccaskill, Pryor, Udall, Carper Baucus, Johnson, Hagan, Bennet, Tester, Feinstein, Begich, Klobuchar, Warner, Nelson(FL).
Should I switch anybody out? Is Reid more likely than tester. Conrad more likely than feinstein.
If we cant figure out who to focus our attention, this thing is gonna pass. It is probably already done.
