The real import of the President's remarks at his Press Conference yesterday is that the Loud Left has made itself irrelevant. The purist, sanctimonious faction of the party won't be part of the discussion until it grows up.
The President's disappointment in the left is certainly understandable. He expected intelligent, rational, constructive partnership. He expected he wouldn't have to fight alone for liberal values. You guys abandoned him, and now you're on the outside.
Meanwhile, the President comes out way on top. New Gallup polling today shows that 66% of the public approves of the President's compromise. An even larger majority of Independents approves.
And yesterday's NBC/WSJ poll confirms something else Gallup has been telling us: President Obama has his base -- the Democratic voters -- firmly in hand. He has a larger approval rating at this point, among Democrats, than any President since FDR.
(P.S. - That means you Loud Lefties aren't the base, no matter how much you want to proclaim yourselves such).
So, I hope you enjoyed your brief period of relevancy. Now the adults will resume the discussion. Why not join deaniac83 at http://www.thepeoplesview.net/ or norbrook at http://cendax.wordpress.com/ or askew at http://bluewavenews.com/ or Eclectablog at http://www.eclectablog.com/... Them's some real Democrats over there. And they're on the winning, liberal side. The side that brought you 30 million newly insured people, unemployment benefit extensions, regulation of tobacco, hate crime legislation, fair wage legislation, and a huge tax on the wealthy (every dollar of investment income subject to Medicare tax for couples making $250,000 or more).
Or stay here and talk about silly stuff like using the poor as bargaining chips and finding a primary opponent for the most popular President, among Democrats, in 60 years.
