It was not a fair fight on the Last Word tonight. Lawrence O'Donnell simply destroyed Alan Grayson. I actually found myself sympathizing with the poor man.
Here was a classic case of when "talking points" come back to haunt you. Grayson comes on the show UNINFORMED and basically ends up looking like Clueless Scrooge when he is unable to answer how to explain to poor people that they will be losing even more money from their paychecks come Jan 1st if Congress doesn't pass middle and lower income tax cuts.
After part 1 of the segment on taxes, I prayed that Grayson called one of his aides to furnish him with more accurate facts. Alas, it didn't happen. The cringe inducing debacle continued for Grayson.
It got even worse as former Republican Arianna Huffington proceeded to quickly move off the tax conversation when she realized she had nothing to add. She started talking about the fact that the President needs to "focus on jobs." I love this. Exactly how should he do that, Arianna? Please share ONE concrete idea for the President on this. I am sure that he is willing to take any good ones at this point. In addition, how about asking Congressman Grayson about what exactly Congress is prepared to do to ensure job creation. After all they control the purse strings of our government. Obama as all-powerful king theory is such a pathetic thing. I cannot think of a more useless and opportunistic pundit than Huffington.
All in all a very entertaining and eye-opening segment. I would bet that there would be 100 diaries about this episode here if Louis Gohmert had been laid bare in this way on national television. But Alas.
The past few weeks on KOS have been so entertaining. I have enjoyed every single diary that I have read. The ALL CAPS and multiple exclamation points have been a treat. Booman encapsulates something that I started thinking a couple of days ago about the whole spectacle of how some on the Left are reacting to the tax cut issue. I have never been so stunned at the thin-skinned outcry from some on my side of the spectrum. If we can scream and shout about the President and his administration, we shouldn't take it personally when they scream and shout right back. Why should they not be afforded that same privilege?
Anyway, thanks KOS community for the minutes of HIGH-Larity that I have gotten in the past few days. Keep those diaries coming...
