I wished it was ONLY the Republicans that were taking the American People Hostage!
So 54 Democrats did not like the compromise that President Obama struck with Senate Republicans on the expiring Bush tax cuts. I hope it is just a symbolic gesture to give the appearance that Democrats in Congress still have muscle to stand against the Democratic President of The United State. A symbol so that they have the spot light as a caucus for whatever it is worth.
The Democratic caucus will met to discuss its options in hopes that they can modify something, anything, so that they can claim some victory to say they made the President do it. But, that is if they actually have any new ideas that they have been seating in their asses other than let's have that Single Unemployment Extension vote option. Let me not remind you that Republican won the November election blocking the same Unemployment Benefit extension bill all year long so don't tell me you are willing to keep Americans hostage for what will be an assured to fail strategy.

The truth is, I don't think they have any plan to do much to strengthen this Economy or protect low and middle income working families. In fact I don't believe that these same do nothing lawmakers have a clue on how to get any of the things the President was able to negotiate with Republicans.
All you have to do is ask them what their alternatives or plans are to:
- pass a $56 Billion unemployment extension law that will allow 2 million people get unemployment Benefit and create 600,000 jobs in 2011?
- pass a law that will allow the Average Americans to keep on the average $3,000 a year.
- give students and families up to $2,500 in tax savings to help pay for college tuition and other expenses.
- pass a 2% employee-side payroll tax cut for over 155 million workers saving a family making $70,000 a year about $1,400 – which translate to providing tax relief of about $120 billion next year.
- pass the Earned Income Tax Credit that will give on an average $600 in additional assistance to families with 3 or more children.
- pass the Child Tax Credit that helps 10.5 million lower income families with 18 million children with a $1,000 child tax credit per child with the $3,000 maximum credit threshold.
- pass COBRA Benefits for those who lost their jobs in the recession, providing a 65 percent tax credit to help cover the cost of health care.
- pass Unemployment Benefits for those who lost their jobs in the recession, to help them get back on their feet, making the first $2,400 in unemployment benefits tax-free, when normally 100 percent of those benefits are taxable.
You know what, I will be all ears if I can hear any new ideas that will help millions of Americans who are struggling to keep their families afloat but these feckless puritans don't have any plan. NONE What-so-ever!
Well, like BWD said...to be "true progressive" this days mean to hate on Barack Obama.
Call these 54 and tell them that the time to act is now. Ask them if they are willing abandon the millions of Americans who are struggling to keep their families afloat.
CALL THESE 54 REPRESENTATIVES WHO ARE CURRENTLY KEEPING THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HOSTAGE and TELL THEM TO SUPPORT PRESIDENT OBAMA'S TAX PLAN
