So, you just brokered the biggest deal you've ever brokered, publically humilated and brow beat the sitting President as you bent him over and you're not standing on your little mountian and crowing? Can't wrap my head around that!!!
The silence of the Republican leadership on the new "tax" deal is deafening and oh so telling.
So here's the deal. With the President cowering and letting the Republican's have their way with him before the new Congress is seated, he gave the "Tan Man" huge, huge political cover.
With what, 60+ new Congressman/women walking into the halls on January 5th, and 99.9% of those newbie’s ran on no new taxes and reducing the deficit, the very idea that the "Tan Man" would get to extend tax cuts to his rich boys and girls numerically could of been a mess. He may have faced his first real crisis of trying to herd the new kittens in his own caucus a couple days after he becomes the new House leader. He could have faced a serious civil war.
Imagine if you'd just won a hard fought Congressional seat by pledging no new taxes and reducing the budget and within a week of being a Congressman your leader tells you he's got to have tax cuts for the richest 2% and he needs your vote ... oh and by the way --- we'll be adding 1 trillion to the debt. Even the "Tan Man" might have difficulty selling that.
Then there's the newbie’s. You hear anything from them? You seen Fox or anybody interviewing these newbie’s about this tax deal? Crickets! Why, because they've been told to be quite. That the rich tax cuts are needed, that the Republican Party is going to need mucho dinero to take back the White House and that money could dry up -- if the tax cuts are not extended.
Gives the newbie’s cover, clean hands. When it's time for re-election in 2 years, they didn't vote for that awful deal --- the Democrats did --- the Democrats caved and added a trillion dollars to our debt. And that Democrat is the one running against me.
Boehner got his base the tax breaks they wanted, he has kept the big dollars rolling in for the taking of the White House in 2012 and he's given the newbie’s cover on this trillion dollar addition to the debt. He's prevented a possible civil war within his own caucus in his first days as Majority Leader and he's given his newbie’s a great platform to start raising money and getting re-elected ... that given a vote this trillion dollars would of never been added to the debt and 4 years of Change you can believe in is a crock! You're going to start hearing it from the newbie’s within in a month ... "if I'd had a vote, I'd of voted no."
He’s also given himself and the newbie’s and his Party another platform, spreadsheet and pie chart to convince the American sheeple that we’ve got to reduce our debt and that means a real long look at Social Security and Medicare/caide – it’ll start within days, and the newbie’s will lead the charge. The social safety network will be under attack and it’ll be a vicious attack.
Boehner made a sweet deal, and we GOT PLAYED, we just ate the largest shit sandwich ever served up by an opposing party in this country’s history, and we're out there saying it's the best we could do ... in fact we got more... ya more shit.
The dysfunctional Republican Party will not see the light of day for a while now with this deal. Boehner’s most difficult task in the last few days has been trying to keep that smug "I got you" look off his face...no wonder we haven’t seen him!
Who's doing strategy at the White House??? Mickey Mouse?
I'm available if asked!
I’d throw up my hands in despair and walk from this party, but if I did, and millions like myself did, we’d be throwing the least amongst us under the bus, and since we are the party of social and Christian values I can’t do that, I’m not a Republican and I function much better if I can sleep at night.
Just one man's opinion
