Now you may see that as a good or a bad thing but it's going to happen. They have already dug their claws into this idea and they are not letting go.
For them it's teabagger time only a progressive version of such. For the past year or so they have been denying it, but this recent tax deal that will prevent millions of middle class Americans from losing another 3k on the year has apparently freed them to admit what they felt all along.
Make no mistake about it what they are doing will not create more and better democrats....for the rest of us.
Progressives don't rule the political world.
On this site many have taken on this crazy idea that they are mostly responsible for Barack getting elected. The truth is that moderates and people that much prefer the president runs things from the center had just as much to do with it as any other group.
On this site progressives call themselves the base and constantly lament the fact that Obama has lost his base. The truth is that Obama's base is far broader than progressives, it includes African Americans the most loyal democratic base there ever has been. It includes moderate democrats, and a whole bunch of liberals that are still quite on board.
On this site there is much talk of primaries but not a lot of talk about anyone else but Obama, which is how they will destroy the democratic party and prevent the moderate majority from seeing a democratic president for the next 20 years.
The success of the teabaggers is attractive to a group that feels left out. Sticking to your principles seems like a noble cause but it's short sighted especially when you principles are stacked up against other human beings. It's even more dangerous when you think that your principles are the right way forward and everyone else should get to the back of the bus
Which is exactly what progressives are asking African-Americans to do by primarying Obama
The Democratic party doesn't have the ability to house teabaggers, it's not in our nature. Democrats don't like people that are inflexible, we don't like people that think they are better than us. We don't like rude, namecalling, or lies.
No group of people larger than 2 is going to be able to match up their principles without sacrificing some of who they are. The lure of power is going to cause cracks in this holier than though, principled approach that some progressives are taking and it will be much more disappointing than what they feel Obama has done.
Anyone who watched the campaign, knows that despite some specific pledges, Obama was as close to the middle as any candidate has ever been, yet they voted for him anyway. Right there is your proof.
With all this talk of principles and virtue, it was tossed out the window for an obvious non-progressive, yet here we are. It's PUMA all over again, for the next two years and Obama will be the only choice, unless you want a republican for president.
Fear tactic? Sure, but it's the same thing as bashing the leader of the democratic party for two years only to vote for him because he passes one progressive bill.
Progressives are going to destroy the Democratic Party. The party that people from all backgrounds built up and made their choice for decades.
Are you going to let them destroy it over prisoners in Gitmo?
Are you going to let them destroy it over a timeline in Afghanastan?
Are you going to let them destroy it over taxes?
You may fall on either side of these questions, but it's time to figure out where you are because, they are not coming to their senses this time.
