Maybe I shouldn't write this diary, I thought. I mean, what do I know about being rich? Pretty much nothing.
As I pointed out in my first-ever Daily Kos diary, I am extremely poor and have been so essentially all of my adult life. Never had a car, only bicycles. Yada, yada.
But, with a little help from some research and a few pictures, I'll do my best to try to help discern what the Mega Rich might do with the extra $700 billion dollars President Obama wants to hand them in tax cuts. Money, that is, which will increase the federal deficit and barely help stimulate the economy for us common folks who won't be getting the bulk of the "deal"'s benefits.
A recent article on the super rich says that the island of Mallorca is a popular spot for buying additional homes and parking one's gigayacht.
What's a gigayacht, you ask?
It's a super yacht. The kind of yacht that you buy when a simple yacht just isn't enough. The kind of yacht that lets others know that there's rich and then there's "hyper rich," and you're the latter.
Here's a picture of a gigayacht:
The name of the above gigayacht is the WallyIsland. It's 325 feet long and has that cute little tropical setting in the middle and a swimming pool at the front. And it's such a bargain.
The WallyIsland will only cost you a mere $150 million.

Imagine you are Thad Duckenworth III. You live in rich, white New Canaan, Connecticut. You're old money, used to getting what you want when you want. You don't have to deal with the common folk. Your Yale and Harvard degrees were basically a done deal from birth.
Well, Thad, this Christmas looked to be a bit of a downer. Though the multinational corporation you run is doing ok, that WallyIsland luxury liner you wanted to go in on with your friends didn't seem do-able for you.
Have I got some great news for you.
And you can thank President Obama -- himself a Harvard grad -- and the Democratic Party for your good fortune (pun intended). You remember how Barack Obama said that the Bush Tax Cuts offended his conscience? Yeah, me too. Well, it appears that those were just words. Just a speech. Hey, what do you care if liberals and progressives are demoralized and apoplectic over Obama's about-face?
You have a gigayacht to buy.
And the so-called "Obama Tax Cut Deal" is going to help make sure that not only will you be able to get in on that yacht this Christmas, but -- get this -- the less-fortunate are going to help you do so! No, I'm SO not kidding.
Well, they are probably going to help you, Thad. But it's not a done deal yet.
There are people out there who don't think giving you and other Super Rich people tax cuts is such a great deal. I know, isn't that selfish of them? The nerve! Anyways, I think now might be a good time to let you know how you can call your congressperson and senators and let them know that you 100% support giving the rich nearly $1 trillion dollars in tax cuts. Here's the information.
Congressional switchboard, toll free
1-800-828-0498
or
1-800-459-1887
You keep calling until you reach your representatives and tell them to vote "yes" on giving nearly $1 trillion to the rich.
The future of your WallyIsland depends on it.

So Thad Duckenworth III is pretty pumped about this Obama Tax Cut Deal. Others are not so thrilled, and that includes the Congressional Black Caucus. I wonder what this homeless woman thinks about giving the Super Rich a tax break:
I'll bet she's happy that Thad is going to be able to buy his gigayacht if the tax deal goes through.
Where is the justice?
Where is the hope?
Voted Change in 2008
Now I feel like a dope
Thad and his friends
Buying new homes and yachts
Woman on the street
Crying tears while she rots
Just words, just speeches
While the 'Baggers run wild
Feeling hopeless and unrepresented
Like an abandoned child
This is not progressivism. It is not liberal. It is not just.
