Another short diary. Within the last few minutes in announcing what is essentially the beginning of the end of the Democratic party and the New Deal, Barack Obama just thanked Mitch McConnell. And Max Baucus. And Jon Kyl. And John Boehner.
Mitch McConnell? John Kyl? John Boehner? I go back a long way on this site. I go back to pre John Kerry and it took me months to stop lurking and figure out how to actually post and have my own thoughts expressed. No matter how incoherent. I made calls, protested and gave a few bucks to try and stop the monstrosity of the Bush dictatorship. I failed, a lot of people failed but I believed that hard work, dedication and the truth would out. I thought that's what happened in 2008. I thought we got a real leader with intelligence, vision and a real concern for most of the people in this country.
Instead I got a circus clown who makes the Vichy French look courageous and patriotic. An individual who will clearly sell out anything and anybody for an upward media tick and a "bipartisan meme".
This is the end. This is truly the end. No more desperate pleas for my time, my concern, my deep belief that this collection of cynical cowards are worth any more than what they supposedly oppose. I can't even bring myself to properly typify a nothing like Mitch McConnell or John Kyl. When I was much younger I had a dog. It was a great dog but when it got very old it started to develop a very large visible tumor on its lower abdomen. Our family loved the dog and we probably waited way too long to finally understand that our dog needed to die in peace. So when I think of somebody like Mitch McConnell I cant even insult him. It would be like insulting the tumor that killed my dog.
And Barack Obama just thanked him on nationwidewide televison.
