As I hit the button on my browser to post this, I fully realize that I will be attacked, called stupid, a racist, an Obamabot and a few other things that I probably not thinking of or knew even existed. But since this is still considered a site that allows freedom of speech, I thought I would take the time to execute my freedom. I have never seen the amount of hatred towards a President from his own Party and I’ve seen for President Obama from the Democratic Party. I have nothing against criticized this Administration, I do it myself often enough in the emails I send to White House and the DNC, but lately this is no longer criticism, but outright hatred. I have always wondered no matter how crappy we get treated by Democrats, we, African-Americans always vote Democrat and usually we get nothing out of it. We finally got an African-American President and if you read diaries on this site, he has become hated not only by Republicans but Democrats. I have my own opinions of why that is and I freely expressed them. I’m sure I will not make the rec list because I not contributing to the F’You Obama atmosphere on this site.
First let me start this diary by clearly stating up front that I am an African-American and that I am a Democrat. I have always voted for the Democratic Candidate, donated money to the party and campaigned for them, but as we progress towards the next election cycle, I know one thing. I will not give my vote freely to the Democratic Party after the way the President has been treated. There is open hatred in the Democratic Party towards this President. As an African-American, you have always been fed that same line that you should vote Democrat, because they care about your issues. I say that is a bunch of crap. Look at the way Rep. James Clyburn and the Congressional Black Caucus was treated by his party leadership. Speaker Pelosi didn’t mind throwing them under the bus to keep her job. It has always been expected that we grin and bear it. African-Americans, don’t be fooled by the hype. We are only numbers to them. We are a dedicated voting block that they don’t have to work for. We have been indoctrinated into thinking that the Democratic Party is our only hope. It has always been expected of me as an African-American, it is because that is what my family has always been Democrats. Ask any African-American voter, and you will get basically the same replies; African Americans have always been Democrats. Democratic Party is the only party that cares about our issues. I am under the belief that they thought by electing an African American, they would be able to tell him who to do, and like the good little African American Democrat, he would just following orders and not think for himself. They wanted a progressive yes person, who would bow and scrape to the progressive movement. He is not doing what they tell him to do and that is pissing them off. How dare he think for himself, we voted for you so we control you!!!!
Many African-Americans understood that President Obama would only be given little leeway in the way he ran this country and if he didn’t conform to the Progressive group think that many White Progressives felt that he should follow, he would quickly lose the support their support. As African American voters, we are not allowed to think for ourselves or have our own opinions. You only have to realize that half of this party never wanted him in the White House to begin with and they will criticize everything he does, to ensure he doesn’t get a second term. They are willing to suffer under a Republican such as Palin for 4 years, if it allows them to place the leadership back into their hands. I would venture to say that many of them would probably vote for Palin or another Republican if it quicken their rise back to power. For them is not about the party or this country, it is about power and their own agenda. These people would sell the Democratic Party down the river for their agenda.
How many African-Americans held their noses and voted for President Clinton for a second term even after all that occurred with him and his policies and his questionable ethics? Needless to say, our turnout was the main reason he was elected to a second term. Many at the time felt at that time that he was the closest thing we would get as a Black President. It is amazing how wrong we African Americans were? If President Obama got caught doing the half the things that Clinton got away with, I would bet my entire life savings that he would not get the same support for White Democrats. They would be leading the calls for his impeachment, with Speaker Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Reid leading the way and scheduling the hearings.
I wonder how African-American voters would react to a primary challenge to President Obama after their unwavering support to the Democratic Party. I wonder how a primary challenge to President Obama would play in the African American media. If the powers to be in the Democratic Party pull off this coup, and replace President Obama as the Democratic nominee is 2012, I would how many of us dedicated numbers would go to the polls and vote? Would we be the good little Democrats and fall in line or would we finally wake up and see how totally our vote has been taken for granted? That dedicated block that they no longer have to work for. I am sure if these people succeed with their primary challenge, would expect African Americans to loyally fall in line? These same people would probably have the gall to try to enlist President Obama to campaign in the African American communities for their chosen candidate to keep us from staying home (and would be offended if he didn’t and question his loyalty).
I am just amazed at the open hatred in the Democratic Party towards this President and I would venture to say that if we stop giving our votes so freely to the Democrats, that hatred would be turned towards all African Americans.
