So, I've been watching on the news the last five days or so, listening about how republican senators are complaining and moaning about how awful it is that they're forced to work in December.
Waa....
Mind you, most of this I've watched while I was at work. Go figure, huh? Today, I kind of hit my limit on it and decided to take action. So, I emailed my newly minted senator (for better or worse) Mark Kirk since I wanted to congratulate him on his election and in a kind of subtle manner let him know that his constituents are indeed watching. Closely.
So, for all of you out there tired of hearing Senator Cornyn bitch about how it's just wrong to work on the 22nd of December or Lindsey Graham talk about how tired he is, perhaps you should write to your own senator and ask them (politely) to pass a message along to them.
"Quit bitching and get back to work!"
Feel free to use my letter as an example.
Dear Senator Kirk,
First off, let's get this out of the way and be done with it. I didn't vote for you. However, in the last couple of days, I have to admit you've somewhat impressed me by not being a typical party-line only voter in the senate. That kind of attitude could end up winning my vote in six years.
Now to the message I ask you to send to your fellow republicans, specifically Senators Kyl, Cornyn and Graham.
"Sirs, with all due respect, I'm working through the holidays just like millions of other men and women who love this country. It's not a sin against God to work when there's work that needs to be done. Perhaps, had you not blocked just about every bill that came your way through the entire legislative session, then you and my new friend here Mark could be home relaxing and having a good time. As it is, you left way too much to do and not a lot of time to do it.
Now, I'll be working third shift all week and my next day off isn't under Sunday when I plan to sit down and watch some football. So, until then, I respectfully ask that you quit your bitchin' and get back to work."
Thank you for your time Senator in reading this.
Happy Holidays,
