Okay, I have been one of the very few folks afforded the opportunity to travel to the future in the Kosatron 3000™ and pre-pre-pre-beta test DK6.

Before I go too far, let me state for the record that I was afforded this opportunity because I am one of kos' favorite posters -- mainly because I drive thousands of page hits to his dump site every day. That's how he can afford to have his place in the Swiss Alps, the smaller place in Monaco (along with the yacht), the beach house/compound (13 fucking rooms!) in Tahiti and his shack in Berkeley.

So, sure, I'm one of the so-called "Kos Kool Kidz" who gets recommended much of the time for no good reason other than people want to touch my loins. Or something.

Anyway, read on for my initial take on DK6...

Here is a capsule summary of what I found in my testing of DK6:

  • Coolest feature: The ability to simply think diaries onto the screen. I found that even when I was just flat out drunk to the point of hurling on my threadbare pajamas and moth-eaten wool socks, I could think a diary onto the screen that made as much sense as any typical Daily Kos rant diary. Here's a snippet of a diary I simply thought onto DK6 while I was blind fucking drunk:

And I'm supposed to support this kind of shit from a Democrat? On what fucking planet???? That asshole can kiss my ass goodbye because I will never COUGH COUGH BARF donate one fucking penny to the cause again!! COUGH HURL

As you can see, there are still a few kinks to work out of the system, but that piece was way more coherent than my actual thinking at that point.

  • Worst feature: Everything you "write" (think) appears in a font designed to match your personality. You don't get to choose the font. DK6 chooses for you. For me, it was Fish in the bathroom, Regular. I have no idea what "Fish in the bathroom" has to do with my personality. Perhaps someone here can offer some insights.
  • Oddest feature: With "Full Think" mode turned on, every single thought that passes through your mind appears in the comments section of whatever piece you happen to be perusing. Here are a string of random comments from me in the "Full Think" mode that appeared in a front page kos thought on his testing of solar jetpacks:

    Itchy. Itchy. Scratch it. Harder.

Did I leave the oven on?

What the fuck was Rex thinking by becoming a Twitter-a-holic?

Eh, geez, fuck, get back to work. goddamnit how do you turn this fucking Full Think thing off? FUCK!

I still don't know how to turn the damn function off.

  • Dysfunctional feature: Celebrities of the future dominated all available screen space. I didn't recognize any of them, but the fawning comments of the other DK6 testers obviously signaled that my fellow testers were from the future and that they were mostly celebrity worshippers. (Alas, some things never change.) kos assured me that this issue will be ironed out before DK6 launches.

Overall, I find it interesting but I'm not sure it's for me. I have traveled back in time to DK2 and I may stay there for the foreseeable future.

I will note that I long ago gave up on DK3 and no longer post here as a result. This diary is only appearing because I am passing through this dimension on my way back to DK2. So don't try and talk to me into staying with your pathetic, begging posts.

You may not even be able to read this as I no longer post here, but we'll see what happens if I push this but--

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from Rescue?
Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?
