Now that we can move past the "Yes We Can" cultism of the iObama phenomenon, it's time to turn our attention to solutions. We've seen that the elites of both parties are more similar than they are different. They are both loyal acolytes of Washington Consensus that has hollowed out our economy and arguably destabilized the global economy. As Noam Chomsky has said, the Obama Administration either the third term for Bill Clinton or George W. Bush depending on your level of pessimism. If you have any ideas out there on how to fix this mess, feel free to outline them for me. I already have a few...

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

of being insulting in your first sentence. Obama Admin may be a disaster but you don't get solutions by being insulting...

btw - I am not an Obama fan and I find your sentence and diary insulting.

    •  The image is only thing I like... (2+ / 0-)

      The rest is crap...

      But I'll offer a proposal:

Mobilize the electorate, explicitly to purge and suppress the right...the Blue Dogs and Republicans...to the greatest extent possible, and to elect a genuine progressive/moderate Democratic Super Majority in the House and Senate, in 2012.

This is the only feasible means I can presently see  offering any material hope whatsoever for the kind of changes we need.

The ice caps are melting.  Time is up.

Democracy is the fundamental root principle of revolution.

Just because nobody, anywhere, has ever really achieved it, yet, does not mean that's it's impossible.

A more viable and genuine democracy will mean the death of capitalism as we now know it, and it's moribund form, fascism.

That, of course, is why the right is freaking out so bad, lol.

If anyone can do it, we can.

      •  I appriciate your (0+ / 0-)

outlining some solutions. I agree with a lot of what you've written, but I do feel the need to point out that what I wrote in my preamble(which I'll admit was padded largely to make the character limit to post the photo) is also true. Do you really disagree that the elite in both parties are not working together, that they do not share more in common then differences. If there is daylight between their positions on such things as trade, monetary policy, war in Afghanistan/Iraq, corporations and their rights to "personhood", antimonopoly law, etc. I would like you to point them out.

  •  We Must Create A New Economic System. (0+ / 0-)

Angryalifornian is quite right.  It's time to discuss, debate and act to create a new economic system which will put human needs and aspirations ahead of private profits.

Capitalism is killing our planet and our very lives.  We have to put use our creativity and energy to join together to replace it with a system that works for us all.
