This is a heck of an eyebrow-raiser:
Crist: Stimulus Has Created Jobs, I Don't Regret Hugging Obama
Florida Governor Charlie Crist won't win over many of his conservative critics with his latest move -- declaring emphatically that the president's stimulus has created tens of thousands of jobs in his state and expressing "not one iota" of regret for working with Obama (indeed, hugging him) on the jobs-creating proposal.
Yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger also Did the Right Thing® over the weekend by saying essentially the same thing--but he's not running for Senate against a teabagger extremist who is either running neck and neck or even ahead of him in the GOP primary lately.
Either Crist has a political death wish, or he's about to make some major, dramatic announcement--and as far as I can tell, it can only be one of three possibilities:
- He's switching parties to become a Democrat ala Specter
- He's gonna try and run as an Independent
- He's gonna try a last-minute move to run for re-election as Governor instead of Senate (which, frankly, would have made a lot more sense for him to do in the first place anyway, unless he really, really wanted to move to DC)
The only other possibility I can fathom is that he's decided to throw in the towel altogether and quit politics (or he's gonna get appointed by Obama to something or another, though that seems awfully far-fetched).
Are there any other possibilities I'm missing here? 'Cus I can't see why he would've made such a bold statement otherwise.
