SUBTITLE - Whose Honor is Glenn Beck Restoring? The Military still has theirs the last time I looked.
Glenn Beck is up to his usual antics. As my husband points out, he is a great salesperson. He sells bad ideas everyday. And he sure knows how to sell gold.
Now he has sold iron pyrite to a charity that deserves better.
The background for this story begins in an earlier (rescued) diary. Catch up, if you like.
Since that diary, I've written to Charity Navigator and spoke to Edie Rosenthal, the Public Relations Director at Special Operations Warrior Foundation to find out why, on earth, they are helping Glenn Beck use their non-profit status to raise funds for the Restore our Honor event.
It gets interesting, so hold on to your hat. And, for those of you who want a piece of the action, we have some jobs to do.
This all began a couple of days ago when a fellow Kossack and friend told me what Glenn Beck was up to - thanks Blue Armadillo! - and I wrote the first diary. Please read to catch up.
And it's slightly possible that Glenn might have been reading... he was a little subdued while talking about the rally on Monday. Seems like he might be having trouble figuring out how to describe it.
This didn't feel like enough for me. I really do want to know whose honor is being saved and I would really like to see this charity make some money, but not while supporting the hate speech of Glenn Beck. If for some reason they absolutely have to support him, then they should receive on-going donations - maybe a 50/50 deal. So, of the $150,000 already earned, they should get $75,000. That's a hell of a lot better than waiting until after the first $1,000,000 is earned. But I think they can do better than get into bed with the likes of Glenn Beck.
So, I set myself a few jobs.
First, I wrote a letter to Charity Navigator to ask about the legality of accepting funds for a Glenn Beck rally while allowing those donations to be tax free. Yes, that was 100% tax free to support Glenn Beck. I also asked when the charity would be up for re-evaluation... I want them to save their butts before this gets too big. They have a four star rating and they do good work. They've just made a poor decision.
Second, I called the Special Operations Warrior Foundation to get it straight from the horse's mouth. Sonny answered the phone. He sounded like a really nice guy. I explained to him that I am a military wife living in San Antonio, Texas and was interested in their charity. (All true, by the way.) I looked them up online and was shocked to see a fundraising effort for Glenn Beck on their front page. Sonny's response:
"Ay, ay, ay. Hold on while I get you the Public Relations Director."
My guess, they've had a few calls already.
I had to call back to speak with the Public Relations Director, Edie Rosenthal. She tried her best but I think that she will be spending a lot of time in the next couple of days crafting a better message. For the sake of the charity, I hope so.
I asked why the charity was supporting an effort by Glenn Beck, the answer was about what I expected - national exposure and his ability to reach out to a large audience. And, of course, it's non-partisan.
Than I asked about the title of the rally, Restore Our Honor. I specifically wanted to know whose honor they were restoring and how they had lost it. She didn't know the answer. She did say that Glenn Beck was inviting military members and fire fighters to stand on the stage with him. She also said that the name didn't mean a loss of military honor but couldn't explain what it did mean. Finally, she said that Glenn Beck's staff came up with the name, it was their idea and their event, and she didn't know more than that.
So then I asked how they could legally offer a tax deduction when the funds were being raised for Glenn Beck's rally. She said it wasn't his rally, it was theirs.
Wait a minute. Did you catch that?
It was his rally when it had to do with the name. But when it has to do with the money, it's theirs?
"Shouldn't you have some control over the title if it's your event?" I ask.
"We're partners." she replied.
Okay. A little clearer, but not crystal clear. Not yet.
"So if you're partners, shouldn't you understand whose honor you are restoring?"
And that's when she starts talking about how honorable the military is but that some people in America aren't honorable, you know, like Tiger Woods.
I'm serious, that's what she said.
Of course, that didn't make much sense to me until I did a little more research. She must have been listening to Glenn Beck's speech,
I don’t know if you saw Tiger Woods the other day, but some people don’t believe Tiger Woods, uh, that he was repentant. Some people are saying, well, he’s only sorry because he got caught. Well – yeah....
I mean, geez, if you’re making it with a whole bunch of unbelievable babes and nobody has a problem with it – yeah.... And better yet – you know, when people said to me yesterday, well, Tiger Woods is Tiger Woods, is he really going to – you know, is he going to change? I don’t know. It may not be his bottom. And if not, we’ll all see another small blonde woman with a golf club chasing him.
At this point, what do you say? I told her that I couldn't imagine them all standing on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial - Glenn Beck, the military, the firefighters, and then, after all that pomp and circumstance they mention --- Tiger Woods.
These folks have a public relations nightmare on their hands. Edie said that she would talk to Glenn Beck's staff to find out whose honor they were restoring. I hope she calls soon. I have a feeling there will be a few more calls.
So, that brings us to my next job.
Third, write this diary and put you guys to work. But, before we do that, we need to be reminded of the reasons why Glenn Beck would make such a poor spokesperson for Special Operations Warrior Foundation. I know, I know, you know all the reasons. But just in case some non-Kossacks read this diary, let's make sure we get the reasons down.
We could tell them to check out the Restore Honor Facebook page:
Katie Hall Restore Honor: At the steps of the Lincoln Memorial: Why does Obama...
Bring Marxist Communist Jews like Van Jones and Anita Dunn praising Communist killer Mao into the Whitehouse?
Have young kids sing praise to Obama in school? Then spend us into debt to Marxist Communist China when they need to cut spending?
When I read these final words that were written by a fellow American Joe Stack having been run down by our corrupt government and IRS syndicate it made me wonder how many others are out there? How much longer will Americans tolerate it?
I watched Glenn b...eck as I do everynight and he denounced the violent acts taken by Joe Stack and I agree that nobody should ever resort to violence although I have met thousands out of the millions of Americans at Tea Party rallies who are so FED UP with our Zionist controlled government that they are nearly at the end of their rope.
I don't know what other outcome Glenn expects to see when you have millions of our fellow Americans who have families but have lost their homes, their 401K's, and thier jobs only because corrupt Congressmen like Chriss Dodd, Barney Frank and others changed legislation that allowed criminal banks that are owned by Zionists to absurdly increase their risk by leveraging loans to 40:1 to invest it in risky investments.
We could call this non-partisan. I call it hate speech. But we can have that disagreement if you like. But I don't think Special Operations Warrior Foundation wants to be connected with this kind of talk.
But maybe they are okay with that. Let's have them look a little further. If you want to check out the photos on the Facebook site, you are greeted with several choices of T-shirts to buy. Several we've seen before, Obama as the Joker, but one I hadn't seen before says "Hitler gave great speeches too" with pictures of Obama and Hitler side by side. How about "One Big A** Mistake America" Very respectful of the Commander-in-Chief of our troops. And there are more. Of course, there are a couple of pro-Palin shirts thrown in for good measure. So, we should ask the folks at Special Operations Warrior Foundation if they are prepared for a boatload of folks dressed in these t-shirts at a rally meant to honor the troops but to dishonor their Commander-in-Chief? What upstanding active duty soldier would stand there - maybe an Oathkeeper. But I'm not sure we're ready to go there.
How about one of the most basic reasons. Glenn Beck called President Obama a racist. Period. End of sentence. That was enough for a boatload of sponsors.
How about the fact that Glenn Beck just called for the eradication of a large percentage of American Citizens:
Progressivism is the cancer in America and it is eating our Constitution. And it was designed to eat the Constitution...It must be cut out of the system because they cannot co-exist. And you don't cure cancer by - well, I'm just going to give you a little bit of cancer. You must eradicate it.
Where did the progressives go; where did they come from? All of a sudden, I'm not a liberal, I'm a progressive...Every time they wake America up to their policies, they have to change their names...They're running out of names.
I'm sure we'll hear that he didn't mean that... not the people, just the idea needs to be eradicated. In America, free speech is no longer free for Glenn Beck. If we disagree with him, we are to be silenced, eradicated.
Do we need some more?
On Silenced Majority, I was reminded of some of the comments on Beck's show:
"This guy (Obama) is dangerous... I mean, this guy is practically an imperial president"
Beck claims that Obama wants a civilian nat'l sec. force and says it's like "what Hitler did with the SS... what Saddam Hussein did"
"(Obama) is a racist... with a deep seeded hatred for white people"
"I fear this government, this administration has so much framework already prepared, that they will seize power overnight before anybody even gives it a second thought...It is a dangerous time. It's the most dangerous time in my life for freedom and liberty in this country."
Aug. 27th 2009, Glenn Beck guest asserts that Obama "has lost confidence in the military" and wants to ditch the military for his own "brownshirt" civilian security force
Glenn beck guest Alex Jones calls for a "second American revolution", including an overthrow of the American government.
Beck has consistently compared the commander-in-chief to the "nazis" and "communists", saying his book is like "Mein Kampf" and called his supporters "brownshirts"
Glenn Beck's magazine Fusion, features Obama in a Nazi uniform on its cover.
"and we talk about a second revolution, not an armed revolution and all this kind of stuff, but I've got to tell you I'm angry. I am extremely angry"
Do you think they'll need anymore reasons?
How about a T-shirt for sale, not on the Facebook page, but on the Glenn Beck store, right next to Restore Our Honor t-shirts. Here's how they advertise it:
Having trouble keeping track of all the insults that Barack Obama has been sending your way lately? If you're a bitter typical white person clinging to God and your guns...then this is the t-shirt for you. Get yours today.
UNCLE, UNCLE! I can't take anymore! I know there is more out there. I just can't do it. Not even with the help of my friend.
Oh, but maybe one more. Have you seen this yet?
Is this the guy we want honoring our troops? Not
How can we stop this from going further?
ACTION you can take:
Email Charity Navigator and ask them about the legality of such fundraising.
Email Glenn Beck, and let him know that military's honor has not been tarnished and does not need restoring, thank you very much.
Call Special Operations Warrior Foundation, 813-805-9400, and ask for Edie Rosenthal, the Public Relations Director. Ask if they have figured out whose honor is being restored? And remind her of at least one of the reasons it might not be a good idea to affiliate with Glenn Beck, despite the national exposure.
After you're done talking to Edie, follow up with an email where you can list a few more reasons.
Let me know how it goes! I want to hear back from all of you!
