Because if we can have arguments over how sweet we have to feel about Cheney since he is in the hospital, then we can make a space in our lives for a diary about the tent hospitals and shelters we paid for that are for the people of Haiti.

Repetitive diary offered up in memory of the people who have died, but more importantly for the people still in need.
Just a ShelterBox TexMex standing on the corner on the internet ringing a bell. Sort of like the Salvation Army Kettle at Christmas time.

RELIEF worker Mark Pearson has told of the scenes of devastation which greeted him in Haiti.
The dad-of-one, who was among the first aid workers to arrive in the capital Port-au-Prince, works for ShelterBox.
The charity send crates with tents, blankets and cooking utensils to disaster-stricken areas around the world.
Over the past five weeks, Mark, a photgrapher, has helped distribute more than 8200 boxes.
Each contained enough supplies to provide shelter to 10 people for a year, meaning more than 82,000 Haitians have already benefitted from the charity's help.
The latest from ShelterBox:
A ShelterBox Response Team (SRT) has delivered 250 ShelterBoxes to Jacmel in the south of Haiti.
SRT members Tom Newman (UK) and Greg Rogers (UK) travelled to the area last week to ensure the effective distribution of the ShelterBoxes to people in desperate need of emergency shelter.
ShelterBox Head of Operations, John Leach, said: ‘We are continuing to spread our net beyond Port au Prince. Last week a newly arrived two man team comprising Greg Rogers and Tom Newman headed south to Jacmel.
‘They’ve wasted no time in assessing needs and distributing the boxes. Tom, who’s on his first deployment, has been doing a great job of running logistics from Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) and now has his chance to get out in the field.’
Aid for more than 80,000 people has now been distributed in Haiti and enough aid for thousands more will start arriving at the end of February.

How to be an angel for Haiti
We want to make this easy so here's what you do.
Use one of the links at the top of this diary to get to a donation page. For on-line donations, there are two places to acknowledge Daily Kos: the "In Honor of" section, or the Comments box further down. You can do either or both.
Once your donation has been made, come back here and post a comment at the bottom of the thread so we can add the donation to the Daily Kos total. Please put the dollar amount in the subject line to help us find it easier. That way we can give you mojo for your gift and confirm any matching funds. ;)
People who don't want to report publicly, or who don't have a Daily Kos account (hi, lurkers!), can always email TexMex, who will then report the amounts for them (anonymously if desired.) To find her email address click her name in orange anywhere in the diary.
Now suppose you've got some money you'd like to offer as an incentive to bring in donations. Here's how that's done.
Scroll down to the bottom of the comments.
Post a comment about your intentions. Use the subject line stating how much you have available in matching funds.
State the terms of your match. For instance, if you have $50 which you'd like to use to encourage small donors to participate, you might say you'll match gifts between $5 and $10 up to a total of $50.
Check back and read the comments following your offer, to see if you've had any takers. The nice folks monitoring this diary will help you keep track. Once your $50 is fully matched, then you follow the link to ShelterBox and donate your 50 bucks.
