Even here, in a red state like Alaska. Sarah Palins "former" state, has become a part of Tea Party vandalism. These people are worse than children (no offense to them), I mean, could they at least find out what it is they're so pissed off about?
How is it that they all have the same tactic of breaking windows?
A vandal smashed a window at the Alaska headquarters of the Alaska Democratic Party.
Executive Director Deborah Williams said Anchorage police initially suspected someone took a crowbar to the window Saturday night. By Monday afternoon police said it was a medium-to-large rock. The damage was discovered Sunday.
Williams says the vandalism is consistent with the recent string of violence against Democratic offices that followed the health care vote. She says they don't have evidence to really say it was an act of political violence, but the headquarters has also been receiving more aggressive phone calls this past week.
From KTUU, not much to read there though. I heard about this on the 5 o' clock news. They even tied Sarah Palin to this because of a tweet 6 days ago:
Commonsense Conservatives & lovers of America: "Don't Retreat, Instead - RELOAD!" Pls see my Facebook page. 9:31 AM Mar 23rd via OpenBeak
Living in this state, you'd know how soft our local news is on Palin, so I was surprised when they brought up the fact that she has had a hand in inciting violence, whether she likes it or not.
From the Democratic Party Chair via HuffPost and TPM:
"We are on heightened alert and will be taking extra precaution," Patti Higgins, chairwoman of the Alaska Democratic Party, told me in an interview today. "I'm not going to say I think it was tea partiers or Republicans, but I think the heightened rhetoric out there will encourage people will go out and think it's okay to 'send a message' and be angry."
Higgins said it seemed "coincidental" the incident happened over the weekend, as former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin was declaring that Republicans should be the party of "Hell no" at a political rally in Nevada. "These are violent words: 'Fire 'em all, take 'em out,' and put together they fit into a pretty cohesive running theme that is fairly violent," Higgins said.-TPM
"There has become this inflammatory rhetoric, and Sarah Palin is leading the charge," Patti Higgins, state chair of the Alaska Democratic Party, said. "In the beginning I didn't think she knew what she was doing, but now I think she does"
"It was a message," Higgins said. "Random acts of violence are a form of domestic terrorism and they need to knock it off.-HuffPost"
There we go, that's exactly how you handle situations like these. You call it for what it is, Domestic Terrorism. This has been happening all over the country since the passage of HCR:
Democratic offices vandalized
Hoyer: Members are at risk
After the Vote, Threats to Some Democrats
Will it stop? Will the Republicans and these so called Commonsense Conservatives publicly denounce these attacks?
I won't hold my breath, they've shown they condone all of this by slapping the Democrat's hands away by turning down a bi-partisan press release on civility. The recent attacks on Cantor have been thoroughly denounced on the left by most on this site and even by Mr. Moulitsas on Countdown. So I'm sure Mr. Cantor is regretting all that he has done, because he has his hands soiled in this as well.
So it seems the state Sarah Palin used to govern is becoming another center for ignorant ass teabaggers. Well I'm waiting for a protest, bring it on! I'll gladly stand out there by myself with a sign they'll hate me more for, than my skin color.
Wasn't just a broken window either, from the Alaska Dispatch:
Democratic Party headquarters had been receiving "threatening and menacing phone calls" during the week prior, according to statewide party organizer Dave Metheny, who handled most of the angry calls. Over the past week, Metheny said, he's fielded about a call a day from various screaming, swearing callers, along with calls from Alaskans who are angry with the party but express it more calmly and rationally. The focus of the anger is, unsurprisingly, the health care reform bill that passed Congress last weekend. When health care reform passed the Senate on Christmas Eve, Democratic Sen. Mark Begich voted in favor of the bill.
None of the nearby buildings were vandalized. Metheny said the police officer who responded to the scene called the vandalism a "smash and run," adding that it was probably not a random act.
From The Democratic Party Chair, Patti Higgins again:
"There has become this inflammatory rhetoric, and Sarah Palin is leading the charge," Patti Higgins, state chair of the Alaska Democratic Party, said. "In the beginning I didn't think she knew what she was doing, but now I think she does."
Hell yeah she knows what she is doing. That's exactly why she hasn't been back in Alaska to give a speech, because she'd have to hold it on base and pre-screen damn near EVERYTHING, in order for it to go Palin's way.
I wish she would come back though, she was my governor and we didn't see her nearly as much as you all are in the Lower 48 . . . on second thought . . . you can keep her.
