A former U.S. Marine rifle expert and veteran of the 1991 Persian Gulf War supplied the extremist Christian Hutaree militia with a "hit list" of federal judges and elected officials and served as the group's "heavy gunner" who was responsible for providing a "significant volume of firepower" against designated law-enforcement targets, according to a court document released by federal prosecutors.
In a new court filing, federal prosecutors for the first time portray the former Marine, Michael David Meeks, 40, as a key figure in the Michigan-based Hutaree's alleged conspiracy to trigger an "uprising" against the U.S. government by plotting to assassinate law-enforcement officers with improvised explosive devices.
It's one thing to have a pack of clueless yaboos running around in camos thinking they look tough, it's another thing when former members of our own Military are guiding and training these guys to attack and murder their fellow Americans.
This report comes out at the same time that we've had an Army Lt. Col refuse to deploy to Afghanistan because he believes the President wasn't born in the U.S.
We've had members of the Military attempt to form their own Tea Party Group, although they deny that this group would in any way support "Military Uprising" they already run dangerously close to violating Military Protocol by engaging in political activities under the color of uniform.
And we also have the fact that State Representatives in Oklahoma are seriously considering creating a Tea Party Militia to "fight Federal Encroachment" - this is not exactly a positive trend.
Anyone remember when just criticizing the President's actions was considered Anti-American and Treasonous? Or y'know daring to make a movie.
How about staging a non-violent protest? Just look how the Nation Republican Campaign Committes portrayed this non-violent protest in Berkeley:
Although I think what's happening here is rude, it's apparently not entirely illegal (Police Officers were present) and nobody GOT SHOT.
Compare that to what Meeks and the Hutaree had on their plate:
Government prosecutors allege, in a motion to deny the defendant bond, that Meeks (much like McVeigh) was filled with a seemingly deep-seated hatred of the U.S. government and elected public officials such as the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy.
During one June 13, 2009, training session by the Hutaree, which involved instructions and demonstrations in the use of trip-wired and command-detonated destructive devices, Meeks suggested blowing up a bridge across the Raisin River near Adrian, Mich., when the war begins and "the enemy comes," the motion states.
At the same session, according to prosecutors, Meeks also stated with regard to the U.S. judicial system: "We gotta ... start over, man. We gotta get rid of the judicial system ... everybody. They need to die." He also talked about "caping" [sic] a member of law enforcement and stealing the officer's weapons and made a threatening comment about Senator Kennedy.
The NRSC wanted the Democratic Senate to denounce the protest in Berkeley - where are they on denouncing the Hutaree?
I think it's clear who the Real Traitors in this nation are, and I'm not talking about Code Pink, Mark Cuban, Robert Redford or the ACLU.
