Sea creatures flee oil spill, gather near shore
by Jay Reeves, John Flesher, Tamara Lush (AP) -- Jun 16, 2010
GULF SHORES, Ala. — Dolphins and sharks are showing up in surprisingly shallow water just off the Florida coast. Mullets, crabs, rays and small fish congregate by the thousands off an Alabama pier. Birds covered in oil are crawling deep into marshes, never to be seen again.
Marine scientists studying the effects of the BP disaster are seeing some strange phenomena.
Fish and other wildlife seem to be fleeing the oil out in the Gulf and clustering in cleaner waters along the coast in a trend that some researchers see as a potentially troubling sign.
The animals' presence close to shore means their usual habitat is badly polluted, and the crowding could result in mass die-offs as fish run out of oxygen. Also, the animals could easily get devoured by predators.
"A parallel would be: Why are the wildlife running to the edge of a forest on fire?
But, but those Sea Critters, CAN'T RUN onto the Land, most of them.
Of course those Sea Critters, may not find much solace on land either if this Local News Report, is foreshadowing a fresh BP Hell, soon to arrive on the scene, in force ...

Oh yeah, a Chemist says these levels of VOCs could start to effect Health,
and locals may want to take precautions,
such as moving out of the area.
Nice! -- well Not Really.
Better start learning to hold your breath, Gulf folks. It may come in handy.
Oh yeah, Better watch out for the "New Sheriff in Town", too folks -- of course if you're a Local, you probably already know, to mind your p's and q's ...
BP and US Government 'Command Center' Guarded by Company From Afghan Embassy Hazing Scandal
Jeremy Scahill, The Nation -- May 28, 2010
They described to me a run in that they just had with the private security company Wackenhut, which apparently has been hired to do the perimeter security for the "Deepwater Horizon Unified Command." The "Unified Command" is run jointly by BP and several US government agencies including the US Coast Guard, the Department of Defense, the Department of State and the Department of Homeland Security.
Wackenhut, of course, is the notorious private security company that operates in the US and around the globe. It recently became part of the huge British mercenary network G4S. [...]
In other words, Wackenhut is the perfect choice to "guard" the joint BP-US government-US military operation in the Gulf.
Lewis told me that for two weeks his crew has attempted to interview officials from the Unified Command's Joint Information Center. "We had been shut down or dodged for two weeks of official requests," he said. Finally, Lewis and [Naomi] Klein, who is on assignment for The Guardian, decided to go to the information center in person "to try to nail something down."
When they pulled up to the front gate, they were greeted by a private security guard working for Wackenhut, the massive security company. "We said we were Media and he said, 'No no no. You're going to have to turn around and go back," recalls Lewis. Klein added, "The Wackenhut guard said we couldn't come in without permission, but wouldn't tell us who we needed permission from. When we didn't leave, he radioed for back up and a Wackenhut truck arrived to escort us off the grounds.
Land, Sea, and Air -- I think the Disaster IS leaving its Mark.
Good thing we got some "Wacken-Doodles", Guarding the Fort -- doncha think!
'It's a Wonderful Day in the Neighborhood' -- well NOT Really!
I'm not sure anyone wants to "be their Neighbor", these days.
Godspeed, Gulf Folks,
May the Winds of Fate be kind.
PS. When you smell smoke -- It's suppose to be a "warning sign" -- it may be time to skedaddle ?
I if by Land
II if by Sea
III if by All Three ... (Earth, Sky, and Sea)
[Of course, maybe if we had some REAL On-the-Scene News Reports, from the Gulf Shores, I wouldn't have to theorize about what IS Really going on down there -- Now would I? ]
