The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has, in their infinite wisdom, has chosen to allow weapons back onboard commercial airliners. Let's not forget, our nation was sent into turmoil by terrorists using box cutters to hijack airplanes. You have to ask, "What on earth is TSA Administrator Kip Hawley thinking?"
Mr. Hawley is a political appointee put in place by President Bush - the same president who says our nations security is his number one goal. So, what gives? It all came to light during a hearing before the Senate Commerce Committee last week when the Air Transport Association (ATA), that represents the majority of major airlines, said that the TSA had the full support of ATA in changing their screening rules. The ATA claims that allowing items that can be used as weapons back onboard aircraft will save screeners time and let them spend more time looking for bombs. TSA says it has studies that validate this but refuses to release the study.
A) This is dangerous and misguided
B) It's false- screeners will spend more time trying to figure out if an item violates the new "measurement rule on items"
C) This will confuse the heck out of passengers
The mainstream media has written extensively about this, members of Congress have told TSA not to do this and thousands of airline workers have written TSA telling them that this is a bad idea.
A website has been created to tell the TSA not to do this. Please go to the link below and send to friends and family as well.
