Kos wrote earlier about the latest Rasmussen national tracking poll, but, unless I missed it, I haven't seen anyone link to/talk about the
Bush vs. Democrats poll which he also released today.
The short version:
Bush gets 45 to Generic Dem 44.
Bush gets 49 to Dean 40.
Although the story claims Dean does better than the other Dems, the link provided is to a slightly older tracking poll (Jan2-4) [where Bush v. Clark is 51 to 32].
(Rasmussen says that while he will update Bush vs. Generic and Bush vs. Dean daily, he will do the other Dem candidates less frequently.)
For those of you who were commenting on the earlier mainpage thread on Rasmussen's winger politics, you won't be disappointed here, despite the relatively positive news for Dean and very positive news for Generic Dem:
A related survey found that 48% of Americans believe the nation's best days are yet to come while 35% think they've come and gone. Among those who say they will vote for Bush over Dean, 59% are optimistic that the future will see America's best days.
However, among those who would vote for Dean, 43% believe the USA's best days are in the past. Only 39% think they are in the future.
(Yes, the boldface is in the original)
More fodder for the pessimism meme ...
