Can a diary just be a comment by a politician followed by this: ?! ?
Yeah, probably not. But Carly Fiorina was caught off-mike saying this:
Sean Hannity is not an easy interview, you know?
Carly Fiorina is the Republican candidate for Senator from California. I repeat, a Republican.
And Great American™ Sean Hannity is the facilitator of GOP talking points. That's pretty much all he is.
Fiorina was caught off-mike reading her BlackBerry, and discovering that Meg Whittman would be conducting her first post-primary interview with Sean Hannity. This is roughly equivilent to Jeff Bridges conducting his first post-Oscar interview with James Lipton. A more sychophantic interviewer (of Republicans) you will not find. And yet, Fiorina said this:
I find it really surprising that on the first day of the general Meg Whitman is going on Sean Hannity. Did you hear that? I think it’s bizarre. I mean, she’s never been on Sean Hannity. I think it’s a very bad choice actually. You know how he is. ... But why, after saying no to all these people, would you go on Sean Hannity? That’s not the one you would do. ... Sean Hannity is not an easy interview, you know
this
Another diary, and many others in the Blogosphere, have written that Fiorina was attacking Hannity. My hunch is that she's merely an idiot (well, about this anyway) and was trying to protect her fellow interchangible candidate. She must feel, mindlessly, that Hannity really is a tough interviewer. Which is beyond strange. Did she have him confused with [thinking of tough US interviewers - drawing a blank]? Hannity is where Rand Paul sought refuge only yesterday, after experiencing a couple of tough (but extremely fair) interviews. It's where Sarah Palin goes after getting a bruising from, umm, Bill O'Reilly.
Not sure many people here listen to him. I do sometimes, because I'm a bit of a talk radio geek. But even by the standards of conservative talk show hosts, listening to his show is an ordeal. He's like a teacher of Conservativism as a Second Language for nine year olds. He'll repeat the same talking points each and every show, for years (he discussed Jeremiah Wright yesterday). No nuance, no thougtfulness, no shades of gray. But if you're someone who is a Republican or a conservative, and want to feel good about your beliefs, he's your best friend. If you're a conservative running for office, he'll act as your campaign flyer of the air.
And yet Carla Fiorina is afraid of him?
