Let me get right to this: again. Alexi Giannoulias needs your money: again. He also needs your time, energy, and money, but at this moment really needs your financial donation. Donate today to my personal fundraising page for Alexi titled, Mr. and Mrs. Grassroots for Alexi Giannoulias. Or if you feel more comfortable, donate to the campaign here, or donate on Act Blue here.
Regardless of where you donate, please donate today and make the Republicans see red.
And maybe we should consider making Alexi an Act Blue Orange 2 Blue candidate. Meanwhile, let's give today and keep this seat in Democratic hands.
And why. Because his opponent is being pumped full of money from special interest and lobbyists who don't care about you or me. Of all the candidates running for the United States Senate, Alexi Giannoulias is one that is a true "grassroots" candidate. A man of the people. A man that will represent people to benefit people. Alexi Giannoulias is down here in the "grassroots" with us.
His opponent takes money from the financial industry and in fact has received gobs of it from them after his vote against financial reform. His opponent is a true man of the financial industry.
So let us continue this "grassroots" and "netroots" effort in favor of Alexi Giannoulias.
Congressman Mark Kirk is owned and operated by the special interests. Specifically, he is owned by the financial industry. He takes money from the financial industry. To the tune of $535,280. And this, according to ABC News who reported that of all Republicans, Mark Kirk takes the most money.
A leader, in a very bad way. Also on this list are several Republican candidates for U.S. Senate, including Pennsylvania Republican Pat Toomey ($319,459), California Republican Carly Fiorina ($254,451) and Indiana Republican Daniel Coats ($174,651). My God, Fiorina has not even been elected but is proven to be quite a "pig at the trough."
Marketwatch.com, which is owned by News Corp, which owns the Wall Street Journal, which is owned by Rupert Murdoch of Fox News, puts Mark Kirk's figure even higher at $826,149.
Today, I will choose to believe Mr. Murdoch and company.
I was privileged to have been involved with Alexi Giannoulias starting in late 2005. Back then, as I detail in my book Mr. and Mrs. Grassroots, we went through struggles and ordeals. The power in the Democratic Party did not want Alexi Giannoulias challenging the status quo. They challenged our nominating petitions and we fought back and won. They spread a smear campaign and we fought back and won. Then Senator Barack Obama came out strongly for Alexi Giannoulias and motivated the grassroots groups like mine to get behind him. And we succeeded by taking the wind out of the sails of the powers that be and set the wheels in motion that led directly to the nomination of Barack Obama to the Presidency. The little guys, like you and me, finally won and won big. And by backing Alexi Giannoulais, we can do it again. With your vote, your time, your energy, your money.
And get behind him we did.
And I do not have one regret for all of our support. And when Alexi decided to run for Obama's old seat in the United States Senate I was clearly behind him. And he won in a close race against worthy opponents that all would have made fine United States Senators.
But Alexi is the Democratic nominee and any distraction could only help elect a Republican and revive the Bush agenda.
What it comes down to quite simply is do we want to move forward with the Obama agenda, or slip backward to where Mark Kirk wants to takes us into the failed Bush policies.
I choose moving forward with the Obama agenda. Vote, support and donate to Alexi Giannoulias for United States Senate.
Mark Kirk is in the pockets of the financial industry and has always done the bidding for the industry. It is time we elect a candidate that will do the bidding for the consumer.
Alexi Giannoulias is the person to do just that.
But.
Alexi needs your time, energy, and money because he is up against the Goliath Financial industry. And David, Alexi Giannoulias, can knock down the nasty Goliath with your support. He has already received $60,739 in donations from 1,698 donors on Act Blue. Let's pad that number to $100,000 from 2500 donors today. And spread the word.
Go Act Blue.
